We needed a slow day today, so we stick around Perth and explore. First up is King’s Park and Botanical Gardens. For those of you who have seen it, you’ll know when we say this is one incredible place. Overlooking downtown Perth, which looks larger than we expected, and the mouth of the Swan River as it flows into the Indian Ocean, we can imagine what the early explorers saw in this place. Paradise. Give us our Canadian health care and pensions, and we’d retire in this area tomorrow, well maybe a bit closer to the Cottesloe beach! Since Perth is going into summer soon, the most spectacular blossoms have already passed with its varied flora going into summer survival mode, yet we see many beautiful flowers.
Marion visited April here in 2012 and has seen the University of Western Australia campus, but we visit again so that Ferdy can experience as well. Gorgeous campus, we consider that April might want to return here for a Doctorate? Never mind April, we’d like to have you around us back home. We had our lunch at the Swan River and met up with some very gracious black swans.
Good thing Ferdy
King’s Park
Monument and gorgeous purple flowers. has a data plan with Telstra, the GPS sure came in handy getting into and out of downtown Perth. Some good Christmas specials were found and we also experienced some of the back alley murals, a bit like what we saw in Melbourne. We had some take-out food at the hotel and dipped our feet into the ocean and took some photos. This is a very windy and cool evening, by Perth standards. No spectacular sunset tonight.
