Le jet lag (décalage horaire) et la chaleur ont raison de moi: 3h de sommeil cette nuit!! J’en profite pour tester Skype avec la Martinique (12h de décalage), ça y est le micro marche ! On attend vos appels !!

So, day 3 here in paradise. One word to describe Perth.....EXPENSIVE!!!! 10 quid a pint are you jokin. Food is lovely though, ate out the last 2 nights in a place called outback jacks. Real country and western with class music on. Food was delious. West to the Irish bar aswel, check out the aul roots. It was Deadly. Shitty stools, dirty lookin carpets, football on the telly, irish accents everywhere, it was the BIZ.Even Treated ourselves to a pint. It was sweltering so went in and got me a Bulmers (so delighted) and Rae a Smirnoff ice. I never drank a pint so fast in me life. 33° degree heat so i was hammered. couldnt even drink a mouthful of the 2nd. Went to the job shop today, all registered think we were the biz ... read more

Dublin Airport- Sad to say goodbye to everyone. It really was, we were in shock on the other side of the screen. We still managed a Chicken Royale though....we ate it through tears. Looked back at the photos and i really dont think my ma and da will miss us. Germany- Weather was minus 13 when we arrived. It actually hurt to breathe in, stinging cold. But we had to go out and get rae her fag...and bottle of diet coke. Only had to wait 2 hours instead of the 14 we thought so that was handy. the flight was 2 hours to here so it was grand. Hostess asked us if we'd move to the exit seats with extra leg room. We were like class ou've it.....THE CHAIRS DIDNT GO BACK AT ALL!!!! Malaysia- Beautiful ... read more

Well, it is official. Our Aussie Odyssey is now over, and there is no turning back, as our car has been sold, and our faithful Cazza is also gone. Since we arrived back in Perth (two weeks ago can you believe!), so much has happened. We spent a day unloading the caravan, trying to find space for everything in my parents’ home - quite a challenge, especially as we also had to fit in! We advertised both the caravan and car over that first weekend, and the car was sold straight away, but there was not much interest in the caravan (apparently just before Easter is the best time to sell). As we were struggling to fine a place to park the caravan, we ended up giving it to a company to sell Cazza on consignment, ... read more

...I'm flying today! The Welsh wonder that is Julia Gillard (I'm sure she loves being reminded she's Welsh, not Australian) told me yesterday afternoon that the Qantas debacle was over for now and that my flight would be taking off as planned. OK, so she didn't quite announce to the world that my particular flight would be bound for Perth but she might as well have. Made up - Perth was always my destination of choice on this little adventure. I just decided to add a few stops, or make that countries, on the way there and back... I'm up and about at 3am as my taxi is coming to get me at 5.30am (the taxi in question doesn't know it at the time but more on that subject later). Having cleaned the apartment yesterday, I ... read more

Hey everyone, long time no write. I haven’t had a lot to write about of late, mostly just working and hanging out with people at the hostel. Room 25 (the 16 bed male dorm I’ve been living in for the past few months ) is kind of like a second home. All the guys here are really good friends, Maik (Mikey) and Karl, my German buddies from Berlin, Joost (pronounced Yoh-st) from the Netherlands, Julies the token Kiwi, Dino the Scottish chef, Loic our tiny Frenchman (addicted to Uno like some people are to drugs), Nick and Matt from England, Josh the only other Canadian from in the hostel and from Vancouver (though I am the cooler of the 2 Canadians here without question ), Roman, the quiet regular sized French guy, and Darren, an English ... read more

The countdown has been on for some time now and it felt so far away when it was 140 days to go. The big 100 day milestone came and went and now we are in single digits and its fast approaching. In 1 week today I will be in Brisbane for my cousins 30th before flying out the following morning to Shabangabang (New Zealand). Still so many things to do before we go, especially work wise, and not nearly enough time to do it. But the excitement should keep me going during the long nights in the office over the coming weeks. Can't wait. See you soon NZ.... read more

We’re still alive and we’re back baaaaby!! Well where to start with summing up the last 4 months?? Perth has been brilliant, even although it’s the most isolated city in the world it’s felt like hame to us! We’ve achieved what we wanted to in Perth which was work and save as much dosh as we could. The jobs we both landed ourselves had a great bunch of folk who were pretty much in the same boat as us so it was easy to make some pals. Don’t be fooled too much with the saving chat though cause we managed to get ourselves right back into the swing of Friday night drinks after work which was pretty much every week! It’s safe to say we’re now pretty well acquainted with the top drinking spots of Perth! ... read more
