We arrived in Perth early september. I started working straight away in a cafe with my friend Nadia and also looking after a 10yr old girl Maggie after school. Jordan soon had a job in the city back in recruitment. Our first couple of weeks consisted of exploring. We visited Scarborough Beach, Fremantle, the city. We had our first Aussie BBQ at Nadias house the weekend Neil and Ian arrived. It was very gormet BBQ, Baby octupus and Baramundi rather than you average sausages and burgers, all cooked by Nad's Boyfriend Owain who is quite the chef. We started looking for a place to rent with the boys and after a couple of weeks crashing at Nadias we signed up for a lease on a 3 bed flat on Adelaide Terrace right in the centre of ... read more

We got into Perth after traveling overnight from Cebu to Kuala Lumpur, which meant that by the time we got to our hostel, we hadn't slept for over 30 hours. We were already in shock at the fact that the bus ride from the airport had cost us 35 dollars (each!), and our arrival at our hostel did nothing to lighten the mood. Having been without internet for a few weeks, and not knowing we were arriving in the middle of Perth's high season (in late February? who knew?) we had ended up having to book a room at Aberdeen Lodge, which was the only thing available within Perth town that was under 80 dollars a night and only described by 50% of its previous users as a fleabag flophouse (the rest were so described by ... read more

G'day! We arrived on time last week to a sunny Perth - 30deg. All things considered the flight wasn't too bad except for the first leg to Singapore when a 2-year-old girl in our cabin decided to sign up to the Frequent Cryer programme; I don't think she stopped for more than half an hour during the flight. By the time we landed in Singapore her poor parents looked as though they had spent two weeks in the jungle with Nadine Dorries. Jon and Jade met us at the airport having spent the last week driving across from New South Wales. Crossing the Nullarbor alone was 2000 miles. Distances take on a whole new meaning in Australia. So we spent the first few days just chilling; took the bus into Perth City where I had my ... read more

So I left Thailand feeling pretty sad, but excited to see Australia and travelled over to Singapore before my connecting flight to Perth there was an 11 hour wait. I landed in the morning and so I decided to head out into Singapore and spend some of the time I had looking around and seeing what I could of Singapore. I spoke to a travel guide and bought a ticket for the Singapore Flyer; this was like England's version of the London Eye (which I still have not been on yet). It cost me $30 SD and I had to get the tube to the flyer. It turned out to be very simple and the tube was so cheap! $4.50 return. I had to make 3 changes but I had a map (obvious tourist) and all ... read more

Hello Friends and Family of well ME! Well i've booked my tickets and i'm coming to a town near you. Now this isn't going to be like last Christmas where we really didn't get time to relax and be a tourist. So you my friends are the people that I will be making an effort to see or have come to me. I'm talented and as much as i'd like to go see everyone in their home...i don't have the powers of Superman and or the funds of Rockefeller which would enable me to undertake that option. However the bonus is that i'm spending the majority of my time between Calgary - Red Deer - Edmonton. I will be arriving in 'the true north strong and free' on April 28 at night. I'm going to be ... read more

We returned to Perth from Fremantle today and spent the majority of the day catching up and sorting things out before we start travelling again… posting things back to the UK, washing, shopping, re-packing etc. But by late afternoon we were pretty much organised so we packed a picnic and headed up to Kings Park to watch the sun setting and the city lights starting to twinkle. As usual we bought far more food than we needed and ended up offering it to the other picnic’ers around us. On the stroll back to the hostel Jo got to test out her nose twitching abilities on the millionaires homes that line the hill leading up to Kings Park which are all very grand. It was then time for a couple of Skype and phone calls before we ... read more
