I'm sure it won't stay like this for long
Although public transport in and arround Perth is far better than the UK we were becoming tired of waiting for busses. So the decision had been made we would buy a van, in doing so we would save money on hostels (about $7000 per year each), have more privacy and the freedom to go where busses dare not.

After scouring the "Quokka" (the Aussy answer to Freeadds) and looking at a few real lemons, most with more snaggs than a russian web site about donkeys and dwarfs.... In an act of despiration we forked out another $2.20 and bought the Sunday Times as it was said that it had a good car sales section. I know strange buying a car out the Sunday Times and without a small African country to pay for it.. We had decided that a car with 4 wheel drive would be good as we would like to get to some more remote out of the way parts, and something that parts would be readily available for. The Toyota Landcruiser a fine vehicle and there are many scattered accross Australia.

As it was a Sunday Mark had the day off and offered to drive us

to see our potential new motor. The first of two to be seen on this day was a Toyota Landcruiser with big blue roo bars. She started first time without too much smoke, she drove well without too much klunking and banging, she had a little rust but nothing that was really serious just cosmetic. She even came prepared with a bed in the back and the furry seat covers that we had seen down the market a week previous. Wow this one was a real contendor. As we still had one more to see we thanked the man and jumped back into the car to hunt out the next Landcruiser. Searching for the next car and following the very dodgy directions from the lady on the other end of the phone (who really didn't know where she lived). The more we drove the more time we had to think about the last one. Finally finding the car we were looking for all we did was a quick drive-by, with the thought of the last one still in our mind and seeing a Landcruiser from the 1970s with a vomit yellowish brown colour and advervised at $1000 more we didn't

even stop to look further and were straight on the phone to the last guy. After a quick haggle on price we settled on $4800. A bargin we feel. For our new home and trusty steed "Jessie".
