We left Cervantes with sunny skies and decided to keep driving until we had had enough. This took us past Merredin and arriving at a free camp the other side of Southern Cross. These free camps are managed by WA and most are huge. They have toilets and seating, loads of secluded area for vans and most have camp fire sites.

It finally started to rain that really fine shitty drizzle and after living in a warmer climate for 7 weeks it was darn cold. Out came the ugg boots and jumpers. We were excited to have a camp fire so we got out our rain jackets and sat there in the rain for awhile. Finally we had to admit defeat and go inside.

No power so no heater. We watched a movie and then had an early night. It was warmer under the minkie blankets than sitting up.

We didn't have far to go the next day to Kalgoorlie so we took our time leaving the camp.
