Hello again - thank you for all your messages, it is greatly appreciated. Well we are in Mandurah about 75kms south of Perth where we have been for the last 6 days. It has grown up around the entrance to the Peel Inlet and is a really lovely place where we have enjoyed relaxing. The town itself faces the estuary with a lovely esplanade area (they call it a foreshore) where you literally sit and watch all the dolphins playing in the water. It also has a great play park for Kiera which she loves, in fact they are so nice in Aus and we are seeing so many, me and Rik have decided to write the Playpark guide to Australia!! We have been out and about for a couple of days as we have hired a car while we are down here and ventured up to North Danderlup Dam on Thursday which was spectacular, isolated, empty and spooky!! Not a single person around for miles and the beautiful picnic area boardering the little beach/watersports/swimming area was spoilt somewhat by the signs proclaiming SWIMMING PROHIBITED due to AMEOBIC MENINGITUS in the water! NICE!! Obviously the brochure had forgotten to mention that

this can occur at certain times of year. Needless to say we got the hell out of there....
Next stop was a place called Dwellingup where we went to the Forest Heritage Centre and where the Australian School of Wood was. Lovely place and great learning for Kiera (and us!) about the different trees etc in Aus and also lots of info about the uses for the trees and plants that the Aborigines had - it was fascinating. Whilst walking along the forest trails two kangeroos bounced past us about 20ft away; took some time to convince Kiera that they weren't going to attack us though! (www.forestheritagecentre.com.au) Went into Dwellingup village then for a coffee , such a quaint place with about 20 buildings and looked like a picture postcard of an outback town. We've also spent some time in the little Mandurah Museum (www.mandurahcommunitymuseum.org) which was really good for such a little place. It has an old schoolroom set up so Kiera played teacher while we were the pupils - Rik just kept pulling my hair, he should have got the cane!!
Mandurah has made a canal system on the edge of the estuary and built the most spectacular

houses. We went on a dolphin cruise to see the dolphins (obviously) and also the riverside houses - talk about how the other half live. Apparently most are owned by rich singaporeians and business people from Perth who just use them occasionally as holiday homes. It was a bit like being in Venice.
Yesterday we spent driving down the coast a little way and stopped off at a place called Lake Clinton which is one of the few places on earth where you will find Thrombolites - the micro biologists among you will know exactly what they are! (Yes, I do have some very brainy friends!)
To us under educated they were very strange, lunar looking rock formations, a bit like reef material. Yet another place that was eerily empty , having only the Cannons for company! Few pictures, and left....
Anyway, last day in Mandurah spent doing this, washing etc before we are back to Perth and our flight Monday morning to Darwin. Hope you are all keeping well and busy and "blog" you soon.
All our love N, R & K xxxxxxxxxxxxx
PS. Manduarah has an English sweety shop which sells walkers crisps - run by a lady from Hockley, Essex, I did ask her if she knew your family Dave, but didn't.!!
