Zebra Rock Mine
In NT just before the quarantine station on the border (if you are heading west) Because we had missed out on on the Victoria River cruise (and as a consequence travelled further), our destination (Kununurra and Lake Argyle) was a lot closer.
We had some spare time up our sleeve and so when we saw the Zebra Rock Mine sign, the decision was easy.
I had heard about this particular rock (and it turns out that this is the only operating Zebra Rock mine in the world!) so we felt quite privileged to be able to tour.
We were greeted by Ruth and her very cute daughter Opal. Ruth and her husband Kim Duncan operate the Zebra Rock Mine and have built this business from nothing in six years. A truly remarkable achievement! Ruth is very knowlegeable and I have a guided tour of the different rocks that they have on display while Georgi and Opal strike up a friendship. We spend a couple of hours here and we felt sorry to leave. Maybe we will be back again. Look for the new facebook page that Ruth has under development.
We thought we had given Ruth all of our fresh fruit and veg but Quarantine manage to find more! No photos please!
Opening the gate....
Another co-driver task. Shame there is no front door for the co-driver. We drive into Kununurra and eventually find Jake's place and Georgi gets to see the Troopy for the first time.
It's still very hot and so we head off to the Lake Argyle Resort to sit in their Infinity Pool and stay a night.
