After eleven nights camping at Cape Range National Park we pull into Exmouth Caravan Park, are slugged $69 for a powered site for 1 night, we are craving a shower and have a huge pile of washing to do. The only thing they didn’t happen to mention, water supply to the park is under repair, no water till 5pm! We survive the extra couple of hours without a shower, get our washing done, then all scrub up and head out to the Exmouth Pub for dinner with the Gordon’s. So nice to have a break from the ongoing cooking and dishes cycle in the van.... read more

Geo: -21.9277, 114.126Hi everyone,We had such a long trip from Ningaloo to Exmouth (about 1 hours drive). We called into most of the camps at Ningaloo along the way. Exmouth is a small town but the building of new suburbs and homes astounds us. There does not seem to be much here as in mining but they have built a huge marina and very posh homes around it much like Hindmarsh Island at Victor. There is a Naval Base here but that seems to be fairly self contained. We are only staying one night here but we are so excited to actually have our gadgets working, to have power, to not worry about water, to do the washing(sad I know) but the bets bit is to have TV tonight. YaY.We tried to visit the beach here ... read more

5th December 2012 Relaxing morning but so much to see. We went for a drive to our neighbouring beach, Turquoise Bay. The water was crystal clear and out came our snorkel gear. We had a wonderful time snorkelling as the tide was low and we didn’t have to swim far to see the corals. About noon, we visited the next attraction, Oyster Stack. This spot was another location with fantastic views. There was no sand, just rocks with corals and shells. Getting into the water was very difficult as the rocks and shells were very sharp. Once in, the corals were an awesome sight but there was a strong current. While snorkelling, Sasha accidently cut her foot on a rock while trying to stand up. The thought of a shark sensing her ... read more

4th December, 2012. Early start as we were keen to get to Exmouth. Sasha and Alyssa has been reading the tourist info on Exmouth and they had high expectations. Upon arriving at Exmouth, we visited the information centre and headed to the first beach in Exmouth. We couldn’t resist a swim as the water was crystal clear, with gentle waves and white sand filled with dead corals and small shells. After our refreshing swim, we had lunch and headed towards the National Park. We visited the light house and stopped at many beaches along the way. We found an awesome camp site only 200m from the beach and after setting up, the girls went for a swim. We even tried fishing with no success.... read more

Geo: -21.9277, 114.126Since kangaroos and emus on the road are something of a hazard in the late afternoon and evening, we parked our not so trusty campervan (now known as Nameless due to severe performance issues that just won't allow me to bond with her) in Carnarvon for the night and woke up to, you guessed it, another flat tire. Surprising me, DH immediately swung into action but it turns out she was just making herself a cup of tea and positioning the camper chair so she could watch the entire tire changing exercise in comfort. Having done it once already, and without the high speed traffic, this change was quite a bit more efficient although I could have lived without the catcalls of "take your shirt off grease monkey" from the DH peanut gallery. We ... read more

Day 40 – Wednesday 8th August – Karijini to Barradale Rest Area on the Warlu way We had a long driving day ahead of us so we got up early to pack up and managed to leave the campground by 8.30am. It always seems to take us at least an hour to pack up each time we have stayed for more than one night in a place and consequently used most of our gear. On the way out of the park we stopped at Mount Bruce, the second highest peak in Western Australia, and did a very short walk to a lookout over Marandoo open cut mine, one of the iron ore mines in the Pilbara. The mine was quite a long way away but because of the scale of the operation you could ... read more

DAYS ON THE ROAD = 27 Thursday 26th & Friday 27th July 2012 Yet another night of no sleep, feels like I have young babies again and having to get up every hour to feed them. I'm definitely looking forward to heading back into Exmouth to rest my weary sole. But there will be no rest for the wicked as washing, caravan work (ie. housework), schooling, shopping will have to be ready for our next destination. We're off tomorrow heading towards Tom Price then Karrijini National Park. Tomorrow night we are stopping at an free overnighter on the side of the road so we will be able to have a camp fire which will be nice. Oh bugger forgot the marshmallows again, will have to send Charles down to the shops to buy some before we ... read more

DAYS ON THE ROAD = 22 Saturday 21st July 2012 The day has arrived where we have to leave the bay and I don't know where the last two weeks have gone. Needless to say we finish packing up everything, have a coffee with mum and dad and say a sad farewell as we head off to our next destination, Exmouth. We arrive in Exmouth in good time and setup our basic setup (including the satellite, LOL) as we are only in this caravan park for a couple of nights. We head off to the shops to get some food for tonight’s dinner. Our Waeco freezer had certainly been earning its money over the last three weeks in keeping our food nice and frozen. We were really good whilst at the shops as when seeing ... read more

Vendredi nous commençons ... read more
