We didn't have to work today so we threw our stuff onto the tour bus and headed down to the beach. It was high tide which was really weird to see as it's always been low tide when we've been. There was very little sand to sit on let alone leave our stuff on. We wanted to go snorkeling as it was our last chance to snorkel here so we found a higher spot to leave our stuff away from the incoming waves. The current was so strong on the reef and with my injured knee I decided not to leave the shallow water. We spent a bit of time in the water and the tide was starting to go back out. So we found a sandy spot and spent the afternoon sunbathing. at about 4pm ... read more

Well I hopped off the tour bus here in Coral Bay and it's been such an amazing week! The weather has been PERFECT. The beach is a 5 minute walk from our hostel and you can just walk off the beach and into the water and you are swimming with coral and heaps of fish. So stunning! So, i've been snorkeling and laying on a beach for most of my time here. This is the life!!! I have been working at the hostel as well though to be able to stay here for free. We have to put in 2 hours a day doing the most random of jobs I tell you. The kitchen here gets cleaned 3 times a day! It's spotless, we also sweep the decks, scrub the picnic tables, vacuum the hallways...just little ... read more

Snorkelling with whale sharks, the largest fish on the planet, was the ultimate highlight and a nice way to end our Australia trip. After spending a couple days at Coral Bay to get our fins wet and do some snorkelling off the beach, we made our way to Exmouth where we emptied out our wallet and signed up for the whale shark tour. It was a bit of a rough start to the tour as we got absolutely drenched by a storm and there was concern that the tour companies might not be able to get their spotter planes in the air (that's how they find the whale sharks). Things cleared up though, and the visibility in the water was incredible. Even in deep water we could see right to the ocean floor from the surface. ... read more
