Albany to Busselton

Our final day in Busselton was quite chilly. No rain but a fierce on shore breeze. We had a ‘chill’ day. Walked around the Middleton area, Eyre Gardens and finally a final walk round Ellen Cove.

21st February was moving day to Busselton. The trip took us along the coast through Denmark & Walpole before cutting inland to Pemberton. Then north to Nannup an interesting little town where we had lunch. The trip was mainly through National Parks and cattle country. After lunch we were only about 80k from our next stopover. Arrived in Busselton at 3.30ish. Temp 34 C, we had left Albany in temp 24C. Trip was over 370k (240 mls) but was on quite windy roads through the parks. Dumped our gear, before heading into Busselton for some food and supplies. Ended up at a cafe ‘ The Goose’ for dinner, Beautiful sunset.

22nd February
Stayed around resort most of day, mid afternoon we went to dip our toes in the Indian Ocean, this time. Very hot on beach, no shade so only stopped for 45 mins or so.
Back to villa for shower & spa.

23rd February
Our trip out today, up the coast to Cape Naturaliste (another National Park). Took coffee at Bunker Bay, beautiful setting with loads of butterflies and dragonflies. We spoke to a woman at the cafe who told us which wineries/vineyards did lunch on Wednesday’s. Because the season is coming to an end, some vineyards are not open mid week. We headed out and visited three vineyards, Wills Domain (we had tried there wine first night here), very good Shiraz and Cab Sauvignon. Next was Knee Deep (in the Margaret River) another nice Shiraz. The third vineyard (recommended by Knee Deep for food) was our last. Again another nice Shiraz, but there Cab Sauvignon was beautiful (but out our league pricewise – 55 AUD or £37). Lunch here – they are proud of there cheese cabinet, they should be – they even had Cropwell Bishop Stilton here.
Headed back to villa for a chill and went into Busselton for dinner. Nice piece of line caught Snapper.
