Staircase to the moon!
Just how it lookedwhen we saw it! Just a quick post today as we have a very big day planned for tomorrow and need to be ready to be picked up by 5.30am. So its early to bed for us!
Today was a house keeping day for us today. washing, cleaning up the Bago, paying bills and catching up on paperwork. So let me tell you its not all froth and bubbles when you're on the road you know! Actually dealing with the constant film of red dust all over the Bago is a challenge. And the odd 'wait a while' prickle that lurks in the corner waiting to attack a bare foot when its least expected!
Broome is known for the phenomena of the Staircase to the Moon. Its created by the rising of a full moon and its reflection off the mudflats in Roebuck Bay at extremely low tide. Its an amazing illusion of a staircase that looks like you could walk on. It occurs only 3 days each month and as luck would have it tonight was the first night this month. So we did a few things around the town and headed off to the Bay to watch, along with the myriad

Okay this is not my photo but this is it! of other folk from all around. They have a nice little markets in the grassy area there, with some yummy foods. We weren't sure where the moon was going to pop up from and chose a spot on the beach that felt right. People parked themselves all over the place, so it must be a bit of a guess.
As it got closer to 6 we began to realise that, whilst we had a great view, we weren't going to get any decent photos. This kind of light requires pretty awesome cameras I think. So we snapped away, but it appears, to no avail. But it was fabulous to see and the size of the moon was massive. And it certainly looks like a staircase thats for sure! Because the photos weren't great I've pilfered one from somewhere, to show what we saw! Better than just talking about it, you can share the view too!
The sun sets incredibly quickly here, one minute its still light, a couple of minutes later its pitch! There's no dusk!So after the moon rose, we all departed into the black. We found our way through the markets stalls and onto the very busy

As the moon rises, the staircase looks like its being drawn up to the sky last bus.
Back in the Bago and we are getting ready for the morning. Massive day tomorrow, cannot wait! Horizontal falls here we come!
Stay warm everyone !
