Our first cooked meal in van for this trip. Friday 10th March 2023 After an hectic month or so where we renovated our rental unit and found new tenants, had some medical checks and chiro for both, had LED lighting fitted throughout the house, had the laundry renovated, plus a full social calendar, we finally departed. As we drove away with the caravan in tow both of us felt excited about our trip but also a little sad to leave our lovely home, garden and all our friends. We intend being away for about 3 months leaving our friend, Jan, housesitting.
As we had not had any breakfast and been busy since about 6am we stopped for brunch at a service station just south of Armadale. Here we had their 'burger with the lot' a feast we have enjoyed there on previous trips. This meal was enough to satisfy us until we got to Albany.
It was an uneventful 6 hour trip to Albany, Rags finding that his stamina was not as great as it used to be! Maybe it will build up over the next few weeks. He has changed his driving philosophy a little, it is now more to enjoy the journey, not just the

Almost like home. Same spot for several years when visiting. destination. We both slept well that night.
Saturday 11th March 2023 A visit to Bunnings for a couple of things, plus a few vital requirements at BWS started our day, followed by a visit to the Chainsaw Sculpture display on a property a little out of town.
This display has been here for quite some time but for one reason or another we never got to see it. It consists of a drive through a property where you can see the sculptures on either side of the track in various positions. Very clever and brilliant work with a chainsaw, although some of the pieces are now showing their age and the damage of weathering.
Later in the afternoon we caught up with Judy's son, Clinton and his partner, Jourdain, as well as their son, Arlo. Jordain's mother, Marie, joined us later and together we enjoyed a delicious meal of lime-cooked fish with spices, followed by the lamb chops we brought form Perth, with salad and a potato dish, all cooked and prepared by Clinton. He still has the touch!

Albany
A break in a tough ride. us. Several coffees got us going and we drove down to the marina from where we took our bikes for a ride along the foreshore. The section around Mt Clarence to Middleton Beach was a bit of a challenge for Judy but we were both glad for the coffee stop at Middleton. Judy continued along the coast to Emu Point, Rags following the road back to Albany to pick up the car.
A quiet afternoon followed.
Monday 13th March 2023 We had an easy day today, preparing to leave tomorrow, some last minute shopping for a few supplies and Judy going shopping with Jourdain and Arlo.
After a few drinks for afternoon tea with Clinton and Jourdain we made our farewells and joined up with our friends Fred and Lorraine who arrived in Albany this afternoon. We purposely delayed our departure by a day so that we could catch up with them as it was Fred's 80th birthday today.
The four of us had dinner at Rustler's Steakhouse to celebrate, followed by coffee and liquors back at our caravan. An early yet enjoyable evening.
