It seems like I've been counting down forever. Now its just two days left before I embark on the trip of a lifetime.
Despite several memorable international adventures to date, I get the feeling this will be something else above and beyond what iv ever experienced.
Firstly, Africa itself. Cant imagine it would bear any sort of resemblence to any place iv ever been to. I've heard Cape Town is one of the worlds most beautiful cities. What a great place to start this trip. Then Johannesburg, Durban, Kruger, Botswana and Zambia await.
Second, the fact that im going to the World Cup for the first time ever - the biggest event a soccer fan could hope to attend. Not just any world cup, but the first to ever be held on African soil. So its two new experienes for me, and a new event for history.
Its been four years since my adventure around Europe. The events of that trip have been thoroughly recorded on this site. It was an amazing experience and i still fondly look back on this online journal as a souvenir of the past.
Sure theres been other international expeditions since that journey, exploring South east asia -
Green Point Stadium
Cape Towns newly built stadium where il see 5 of my 8 world cup matches. Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia.
Those were family trips though. I think il reserve this site for my own personal adventures.
Whilst I'm staying by myself in Cape Town, Joburg, and embarking on a solo safari, i want be alone. I'll have Matt and Dave in close proximity in Cape Town, even staying at the same place as them at Durban for my trips end. I'll also be able to catch Nick at the Australia games.
Its so close now, I can taste it. I need this trip, and i cant wait for it to commence in a matter of weeks!!
Hello Africa!!
