Hey everyone again I think we can all say now that we have settled in pretty well and all having an absolutely brilliant time. The weather has just been incredible since we came here it has been 28, 33, 35 and yesterday at the tennis reached 41 and that is seriously hot as soon as we sat down we could feel our feet burning, was like being in an oven. Its alright though today its only going to reach 43 so another cool one. After Thursday and our tour round the MCG on Friday we were off to the cricket. We went to the stadium called the Telstra Dome which is used multi purpose for cricket and main AFL ( Aussie Rules) and it was highly impressive. We thought we had got lucky because we walked out of the 33 degrees heat in to the stadium to see the roof closed and it seemed a lot cooler but as we got to our seats and sat down we realised we were in for a long afternoon. We looked over at the big screen and it said 32.9 degrees humidity high and playing conditions uncomfortable, its was actually like sitting in a
sauna for 9 hours like it is now writing this to all of you!! Anyway the game was great the Aussies dominated (No surprise there) Jaques really impressive debut innings 94 and crowds favourite Brett Lee was absolutely awesome, the crowd really got him fired up. The crowd itself was a lot younger than we get back home and there are so many more women that go i would say in the region og 60/40 in favour of men. The crowd certainly stir up some noise and the constant Mexican wave is always a laugh and the amount of inflatable’s is unbelievable hundreds and hundreds. We were sat in the top tier and each time someone knocked one over the edge about 50 people got up started shouting and pointing at the guy that did it " Your a Wan*er clap clap Your a Wan *er" and that was repeated throughout the game. In the end Harry and Giles got all tired and grumpy and wanted to go so we left about 9 overs before the end with Australia on the brink of victory. Yesterday we went to the Australian Open Tennis which was a good experience, i have never
really been a massive fan of watching tennis but always followed it a bit but thought it would be a great experience to go and watch a major tournament while we were here and i was pleasantly surprised. The thing bout attractions and sporting events over here everything seems to be so cheap. For instance the cricket cost us $37 which is about 15 pounds where in England its bout 45 pounds and the Tennis was $27 for a ground pass AMAZING VAlUE about 12 pounds and let us watch every court bar the main one rod leaver and you can watch from 11 in morning til 11 at night where as England its bout triple the price and you get half the amount off play. We chose to go and sit in the Vodafone Arena which was just smaller then Rod Laver the main court and all were pleasantly surprised 1st game on was (25) Sebastien Grosjean (Fra) bt (6) Guillermo Coria (Arg) which was a brilliant game in the most ridiculous temperatures i have ever seen sport played in. Luckily for the players they shut the roof after that game. Then next on was (7) Patty Schnyder (Swi)
bt Aiko Nakamura (Jpn) to be honest not one of the most evenly matched games but entertaining all the least then games of the day (21) Nicolas Kiefer (Ger) bt (15) Juan Carlos Ferrero (Spa) an amazing game ferrero higher seed but Kiefer way more impressive just dominated him was just a running machine wot ever ferrero did he equalled then bettered and then the final game (2) Kim Clijsters (Bel) bt Roberta Vinci (Ita) which was just one way traffic the whole time and Clijsters dominated. Then we had a walk around there is so much to do other than the tennis loads and loads of special stalls and games to play on to make it all the better then as we were walking out we heard massive cheers coming from the Margret court the 3rd biggest and wandered over ther to see one of the lasts aussies in the tournament left so we decided to go watch it and i have never seen such a brilliant atmosphere at a tennis game in my life was amazing. They were just shouting permanent abuse at him and some of the stuff was real funny. But yet again Grumpy Harry and
Grumpy Giles said they were too tired again (lightweights) so we started walking home to catch the train in the middle of the 3rd set. On out way back we could see a massive lightning storm on the otherside of the city where we were staying but it had stopped by the time we got back. Then when we got in our rooms and ready for bed the temperature outside this is bout 12 at night was in the high 20's absolutely ridiculous. And then to bad news of finding out that Pompey lost 5-0 yesterday ust before i wrote this. Hope everyone’s doing well over there and having a gd time and the weathers ok. If u want to talk just send us and email at hotmail byee
Chaz x x
P.S Sorry for dragging it out
