So catching up on the last week or so. Ryan arrived last friday around noon. We had lunch, wandered around town, got some groceries for the week and headed down to the beach to watch the sunset. While we walked I was talking sooo much, telling him everything that has happened in the past month that we havent seen eachother and he pretended to be interested (just kidding. he may have been interested, but was probably tired of waiting for me to stop talking. I bet he was thinking "gees, Ive already waited 5 years, why dont you just talk for a few more hours!" haha) but i went on and on about ridiculous things and then finally i ran out of things to say and he was finally able to get a word in. At the first notion of silence, he looked at me, turned and told me how much he loved me, then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was soo surprised. So much so, I didnt even really speak at all. (and at this point he was probably getting worried) so he asked me "so..is that a yes?" haha I think I
was stunned silent! So anyway, then we spent the rest of the evening celebrating and talking about our plans. Im soo excited!
We had a really great time touring around the city, unfortunatley for Ryan the weather was not so good here and we didnt get to swim or spend too much time at the beach but we went to the zoo, the aquarium and the musem and did some shopping. Also some people watching (melbourne is a prime location for finding freeky people.) so that was fun.
We walked out on the warf and saw little Fairy Penguins hiding under the rocks. They are so cute! Then last night we walked around the park to look for some possums and met a very strange possum lady who feeds them at night and a funny drunk irish man and his friends. So that was interesting. I even pet a possum! (even though Ryan specifically asked me not to get close to them. I couldnt resist. I was willing to risk a potentail possum attack.) It was so worth it.
Oh and we took a day tour of the Great Ocean Road. Our tour guide was an awesome Australian
lady with rockin dreads and a very great sense of humor. It was good fun. Got to see the 12 Apostles (rock formations) and amazing scenery along the way. And, when we got on the tour bus Ryan turns to me and says "hey- i know that guy" pointing to this tiny old oriental guy and his wife. Apparently Ryan had met them at Los Angeles Airport and they started a long conversation there, where he must have told them all about his plan to come here and propose because when he said hi to them and they asked him if we had set a date yet (they remembered! it was very cute)
This week went by soo fast and I was so sad to see Ryan leave today. Back to being on my own. It is Christmas Eve and Right now I sit at Mcdonalds using the free internet and waiting out the rain. Seems to be the story of my life since Ive been in Australia. Im now in a town called Coolangatta, which is a surf town on the east coast. I think I will finish my trip up here, after hopefully doing some surfing (if
the weather cooperates) Feeling a little homesick for the first time on this trip😞
I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! I love you and miss you all!! Will call tomorrow.
