18/2/18 Express Delivery

We left our hotel in Hobart at 8:30 hours arrived in the apartment in St. Kilda (Melbourne) at 12:30 courtesy of Uber and Jetstar transportation even though we had to take a longer route to the airport as the main bridge, out of Hobart, was closed to traffic for a fun run. Chilled out in afternoon after unpacking kit from pods. Charlotte and Ollie getting ready for work so tried to keep out of way. Caught up on blogs.

I have worked out that the best way to keep cool in the Australian summer is to go to Tasmania.

19/2/18 Bucket List

We are conscious that we only have one full week of our deployment left and still a lot of activities to try and fit in.

C. O. has ordered a route march round the lake in Albert Park. The park was created in the mid 1800's and is close to the apartment and is quite large. It has a 9 hole golf course, a large lake with rowing and sailing facilities, an aquatic centre, a stadium for Ausie Rules footy, cricket pitches, football pitches and numerous trails and tracks.

Edge of lake.
There is also enough room for an area to let dogs off their leads. It also has a couple of restaurants and cafes. In short, Albert Park provides many sporting and leisure facilities for people living in the St. Kilda area. The track round the lake is used by joggers, serious runners, power walkers, mums with pushchairs and geriatric walkers. The track is just short of 6 kms. We marched and admired the scenery trying to keep out of the way of serious trainers. It was a pleasant way to spend the morning. There is a lot of construction activity in the park preparing for the Australian Grand Prix next month. We could hear and see some of the work but it did not interfere with our activities. The G.P. Has been held here since 1996 and is now a feature of the Melbourne sports calendar.

We returned having crossed off one thing off we said we would do.
