This blog comes to you after two weeks of recharging our batteries and getting pretty cold in the suburbs of Melbourne. We won't go into detail of what each day has brought us as the blogs are too long enough and some days there would be nothing to report. Literally one day we didn't even leave the house! We were staying with Lauren's third cousin Con and his wife Mary in their bungalow initially for the first week with them and the second house sitting as they were away in Europe holidaying. They kindly picked us up from the airport having flown from Sydney. This was a slight debacle, the flight? No this was fine plenty of movies, drinks and fairly good food we even managed some sleep. No the problem was, we were turning up ... read more

A largely uneventful day yesterday (i.e. did nothing but write blogs and catch up on correspondence during the day). Much more fun in the evening catching up with Jackie, Lawrence and their three lovely cats Garfield, Phoebe and Minnie, for pizza and a good old gossip. Fantastic to see them, and made me realise just how rubbish I am at keeping in touch with people. Must try harder in 2012. Time for another adventure today. I've booked myself onto a Ramsay Street tour, to hopefully catch up with Dr Karl Kennedy. My optimism knows no bounds - I am aware that the chances of seeing him are on a parallel with finding Shergar, and that the only guaranteed sighting I'm likely to have will be next Monday when his band play at the weekly Neighbours pub ... read more

After a sad departure from Murray River Farm, we said our farewells to Debs and Padge and caught the early bus and Train to Melbourne, then onto Mount Martha to stay with Jo and Martin. At the bus stop we bought a massive Beesting to take to Jo’s and a couple of sausage rolls for breaky. Upon arrival Mollie and Lucy had made us both certificates of congratulations on our horse rides, bless them, it was well sweet. The next day we met Jo’s friend Tracey and the 4 of us went into Chinatown for some Chinese tucker and I bought the ingredients to make us Aloo Gobi which I had learnt from Sanjay, the Indian guy in Laos. It took me about 3 hours to do but it tasted really nice. On Saturday Jo and ... read more

Oh yes, you read that right!!!! Neighbours tour day!!! Arghhhh, getting up at the crack of dawn as we needed to be at the tour office for 8.30am and we made our way to the train station in Sandringham. It only took 35 mins to get to Flinders Street station in the City and the hustle and bustle of the city and those off to work! I'd driven past the tour office on the Sunday when I'd hailed a taxi from the Hilton at the Wharf to the train station but, in true Lisa Thomas fashion, had failed to realise it was over 300 building numbers away from the train station!!!! Ooops. Distance and size have really never been my strong point! I refer people back to when i ordered new pin boards for work and ... read more

Hey everyone, It's been a busy week! We are going to finally be able to upload the pictures today. Since we last wrote a blog entry we have moved into our new apartment, had job interviews/trials and have really started exploring the area. The apartment is very nice, a lot bigger than what we were expecting and we are sharing with two other couples; two from Canada, one Englishman and an American. They're all very nice and easy to get along with, although being slightly messy, but it's something that we can easily live with. We are situated in one of the best locations in Melbourne, on a really busy shopping street with everything we need with bars, restaurants, clubs, supermarkets etc so we have everything that we need right on our doorstep and also being ... read more

Just to let you know I am writing this on the 20th but I wanted to say my destination was Ramsay Street so I am writing about neighbours seperately What a day! The neighbours tour was so good, we saw the school and the garage from far away because they were filming!!!! We met Donna Freedman who looks like a freakin' doll in real life. It was so much fun and after this we went to Ramsay Street (disappointingly not actually called Ramsay Street but Pin Oaks) we got there and it was soooo small, in the programme it looks like a proper street with a few houses but oh no - there are 6 houses, each of which are lived in by characters - no extra houses (just to clarify the actors don't actually live ... read more

Home comforts with a dash of Pie shop, 500g of Coon cheese, a pinch of guitar hero and sprinkles of Ramsey Street. This was the first time we had really seen any of suburban Australia, I mean wildlife and greenery and normal peoples houses (the sort of thing you see on neighbours all the time). It was great, although we’d been in the city for a while, it felt like we had finally arrived in OZ. We’d been looking forward to some home comforts and every time we had mentioned to someone we were heading to Fern tree Gully they commented on how nice (and expensive) it was there. Amanda’s poor little car struggled into the driveway and we could see immediately why they didn’t want to go back to the UK, why would you want ... read more

Another song for the title this week, cos as you may have guessed, we made it to Melbourne!! woohooo. After a quick flight South East in the tiniest plane ever (free morning tea too, bargain - idi I already mention that?) Stef's ozzie cousins picked us up and took us to their home in Endeavour Hills on the other side of the city. We spent the day catching up and planning our week, Ross had his hangover kip and since we were too late to book the official Neighbours tour, found the locations for Erinsborough High and Ramsay Street. Stef's auntie cooked up our first (of many) feasts for dinner then we settled down with a beer to watch footie on tv in preparation for the next day..... ...which was Sunday and when I gained another ... read more
