Ok so after my trip to Sydney I spent most of my time applying for jobs, having an interview or two, riding horses, seeing church friends as well as a few meals/trips out with Pili and Simon. Additionally I started some volunteer work through church, Friday mornings I help out a playgroup with 2 disabled twins and Thursday evenings I also go into the city and give out free pancakes. Its a nice community act and hopefully shows all Christians are not judgmental and homophobic, which apparently is the general perception! It's also pretty fun and good for getting to know people!
Labour Day-8th March we had a family day out to Marysville to see some waterfalls. Me and SJ had been last time we were in Oz but this time we couldn't actually get to the waterfalls because although it is over a year on from Black Saturday the damage was still very apparent and not being able to see anything for miles and miles expect burnt trees on every hill was eerie and very unsettling. Almost the whole town of Marysville had been destroyed as well so that was all under reconstruction and it was hard not to
get upset by the destruction. On the way home, we had a look at the local skiing area and then ended up feeding the birds in the Dandenongs(big forest area).
Then Ian arrived, a friend from home I know through HCPT. 18th March we had a touristy day in the city, went to the Docklands, Fitzroy Gardens and Southbank before heading back to St Kilda where we had a night out with some more of Ian's friends, including Phil who he was travelling with from home. So I stayed in the city and the next day, Ian and Phil got a campervan and we headed out towards Warrandyte, we had a picnic at a reservoir and then they dropped me home. While staying in the city I got a phone call about a nannying job.
When I got back from my city trip Rach informed me Warrandyte cafe were after staff so I also went and spoke to Tammy(the boss) and started working there a couple of days a week! This is the cafe Rach and the other mums from school regularly have coffee at.
That weekend it was Warrandyte festival so Joseph and Eva were in
the parade with school and sang on the stage. We had a wander round all the stalls and then in the afternoon I met my church friends. The idea was that we would offer people prayer but the logistics had not been fully thought through and it just ended up being a nice afternoon chilling out together. That night we all went to Rach and Andy's for Natalie and Aaron's leaving BBQ. They are an English couple who had been part of small group-my friends that I meet with every Wed for dinner and bible study.
Sunday i watched Eva's show jumping competition after church. Monday was when I finalised my working arrangements and met the four boys I would be looking after, more as a help to mum rather than sole responsibility. Mack(4), Jake(2) and the twins Brock and Nash were 4months old. All very cute and generally well behaved. Since then I have been there every Monday for the day. Tuesday we got everything ready for Grandma and Grandad arriving then I had a quick ride before dinner in the city with Pili and Simon and my first trip to the Sofitel Hotel. It is a very
posh hotel with an amazing cocktail bar on the 35th floor and from the toilets the views are spectacular as it is just a glass wall! :-)
