Ah yes, the time had come, the Formula 1 circus finally hit town !!! The time when I can finally act my own age again.....7 years and 8 months..... As it's in the middle of town (rather, taking over all of Albert Park), there had already been plenty of activity around the park getting everything oragnised and set up. So driving past it once in a while was a slight form of torture (for this 7 year old anyway)...... The week before the GP was a busy one anyway for me, so plenty of distractions. A Toto concert on the Friday. The MOOMBA festival, which for us meant a day of dragonboat racing in the Docklands. The other thing that happened this month was our 7th anniversary. Our actual anniversary was back in February but we celebrated it this month. Now I don’t know if there is a precious metal, significant material or even a name that is attached to this important milestone but for the purposes of this blog we shall call it our “LOUD” anniversary. Lee and I had chatted about how we would like to spend our anniversary and had decided that we would have a nice night out in Sydney with a nice meal and a bottle of wine as we were going to be saving money now until we left Sydney (this was now terrifyingly close in our minds by this time). The Grand Prix was a 4 day affair, the first day there wasn’t that much actual racing happening but it was just a case of scoping out the lie of the land and working out the best spots to watch there wasn’t much F1 action but it was still a great day of various cars driving around the track. It wasn’t until day 2 that we got to see some F1 action, there were two practice sessions, such was the proximity of the hostel to the track that the first one woke us up, as we had consumed too much beer the evening prior!
