Hi all,
We woke up nice and early as we wanted to head to St Kilda to have a look around and to catch up with a couple of guys (Emil and Graydon) who we had met travelling in Oz.
We had a nice quick breakfast of cheese on toast, cooked by me AGAIN (hint hint Vick). Then headed to the train station.
As the F1 was on we had to get a replacement bus as the tram to St Kilda was off, it took around 40 minutes to get down there. (Normally it’s the 96 tram) We got lost straight away and ended up away from St Kilda; so after a look on Google maps and the help of a local we were back on track!!!
St Kilda is a really nice quiet town on the coast with an amazing beach, with many activities (too cold for us to get in the water though). We found a really nice Sunday market and had a walk around.
We started to get hungry so we headed to Woolworth’s and got some food (all reduced and cheap) where
we sat outside and had a picnic.
I then managed to get hold of Emil and we met him in his hostel, we thought we would take a walk to Albert Park to see if we could see any of the F1. As we were walking along the main road and along the fenced off area we found portable toilet on the F1 side, this section had no security guards so we hopped over the fence and boom free entry to the Australian F1 GP. I could not stop smiling, it saved us $100 dollars each and we walked around seeing all the amazing things going on. I phoned Graydon and we met up with him he couldn’t believe we got in like it haha. There were lots of plane shows as well, these were impressive with the red arrows, jet fighter planes and even a jumbo going over head doing laps and slow turns-was so good!!!
We only stayed to watch the start as we had to head out to Pascoe Vale as it was where we were staying for the next two nights couch surfing!! Still we were right where Daneil Kuyvat’s
car stopped so got good photos of the car and him!!!
We got back to Claire’s and said our goodbyes and got to the train station as quick as possible, we even managed to stop off and get dessert for the BBQ they had invited us to.
We got off at Pascoe Vale station (only 15 minutes from the city) and this really nice lady walked us all the way to Essex Street where we would be staying!! (Thanks again).
The couple we were staying with are in their 40’s, with two daughters aged 2 and 4 years. They have a HUGE house, and gave us our private ensuite bedroom with a walk in wardrobe! The woman was really friendly but the husband was not very chatty at first and made us feel awkward by asking us what meat we had to put on the bbq, when we said we brought the dessert he said well did you guys eat before we came then….uh no you invited us to your bbq….! I don’t think it was our fault as I had spoken to the wife on the phone in the day
to ask what to bring or if we should eat before we came. She said that her husband had everything and to just bring a dessert. Uhhhh awkward, I just don’t think they had communicated between themselves. Luckily the conversation still flowed when we were eating and they were nice enough. We said thank you and goodnight then headed to our room about 21.30 to watch a GOT and shower.
We phoned our mums too- HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
Good night N&V X
