Well the day started out early for Steve, Sarn and Samantha. The three hit the road to try out their luck. They went out on the lake and then headed out to the Big Ocean. Steve said it was a great experience, on that he had been looking forward to for a long time. The waves were a little high and the temperature a little cool, but the trip was so much fun. Steve was able to catch 3 fish---only one was a keeper, but the pictures he took were great. The rest of us girls decided to stay home and enjoy the day. Carrissa was not filling well (we think she was cutting a few more teeth). Ella & I baked a cake and I made banana bread. As you can tell we are eating ... read more

We have been in Metung at Erica's for five days now. Each day was been new and exciting for us and for our grandchildren. They are each special little individuals with personalities that are quite different. We have sampled several different meals (all of which were very good). Erica has taken us to several of the small towns around the area. We have been to Metung, The Lakes and Bairnsdale. The have Safeways, Targets and Kmart here. They are all very different than in the states. Target is about 1/4 of the size of our Indep one. Kmart about 1/2 the size and Safeway is about the same. (The big difference is the prices that they charge for the same items we take all to much for granted). The food is sometimes the same and sometimes ... read more

Sunday was a great day. We had a huge breakfast. (Bacon, eggs, toast, & more) Before noon Sarn was putting more food out on the table. There was cheese's and dry biscuits (cracker), olives stuffed with tomatoes, olives stuffed anchovies, and a sasuage meat. Around noon Juliet and Judy Sarn's aunt and friend came over. They ate lunch with us (another meal). They are both retired school teachers and were so interesting to meet and to listen to. They have traveled it seems all over the world and have done so many things. Both of them are so talented I can't hardly stand it. They paint, quilt, build, and garden. We are anxious to visit their home. Well the only hitch so far as been NO Dr.Pepper and no beer that Steve has found that he likes. ... read more

So a big day today, we woke up to rain still pouring down on us, relentless from the night before. Not really being abole to go for the walk we wanted in the national park, we decided to hit the road early and headed for Eden, arriving just before lunch, 250km later. Still raining, we hid in the van having lunch. Eden is an old whaling town where apparently the killer whales in the region helped the whalers to catch other whales in return for a reward. I don't know how true this is, but they do have a thing for killer whales there, they even have a dedicated museum! No break in the rain meant we decide to carry on to the next town. This turned out to be the most deserted stretch of road ... read more

The weather was lovely when I left Narooma but as I headed south the clouds rolled in and it started to rain again. On the way to Lakes Entrance I stopped off at Eden, only because the name sounded nice. It turned out to me another sleepy fishing port but was a good excuse to top up my caffeine and chocolate muffin levels. While sat in the café on the dock I was watching the pelicans who themselves were attentively watching the fishermen for any scraps that might be coming their way. As more fishermen came into port more and more pelicans were turning up. In the air they seem so graceful, effortlessly gliding their massive bodies on the wind currents. Perfectly balanced, until they come into land. Once the decision has been made to come ... read more

Hey guys, yesterday we all went to the Australian Capital of Canberra where we went to the Government Buildings, which was surpringly interesting, and the National Australian Museum, which wasn't all that. We had a BBQ and spent the evening drinking beer in the Youth Hostel. Today we drove down to a small seaside town called Lakes Entrance, was a 6 or so hour journey, but was a good laugh, everybody on the tour is really cool. My sunburn isnt too bad now, I think Lizzys back is still sore though. Lakes Entrance is fun, we went down to the beach and played a bit of football and had an american football ball to throw around. Just waiting around for dinner now, which Lizzy is helping to cook. Going to go now anyway, take care guys ... read more
