Sunday was a great day for us - we took a small tour bus to the Great Ocean Road for the day. We thought about doing the full day event on our own, but still slightly afraid of driving on the opposite side of the roads here. We started out at Bells Beach were there are world reknown waves and a huge surfing competition is held here too. After the beach we made our way along the coast to go find some Koala's. They just live in the trees here - eating the gum tree leaves when they wake up in between sleeping 20hrs a day! After this, we stopped for a mid-morning snack of tea/coffee and butter cake (aka pound cake). On our way to this stop we saw a couple of kangaroos just hanging out in a field - they are almost like deer at home - they just roam everywhere! After a quick lunch in Apollo Bay, normally a town of 1500 - this weekend, Labor Day, there were close to 15,000 ppl around - -we headed to a cold weather rainforest where there are carniverous black snails - we are still alive, so nope no snails for us. They are evidently very rare to see. Back on the bus for a quick trip to the main attraction - the 12 apostles and London Bridge! They almost look fake in the pictures. They are always changing - it will be fun to see how they have changed since Al was there in 2000.

Yesterday, Sat, we checked out the Labor Day weekend festival, Moomba. They did all kinds of water boarding events along the Yarra river in the middle of the city. We plan to head back before our flight to Cairns tomorrow morning (Monday) to watch some of the final rounds of competition. Saturday afternoon we caught a footie game - Australia Rules Football. These guys have to be in really good shape - they sprint all the time, have to scoop the ball from the ground, kick it to the next person all while trying not to be tackled to the ground by the other team - and the oval shaped field is probably 2 NFL fields long and at least 1 wide - huge field. After the game, we were also able to watch some of the fireworks that ended the festival for the day 😊
