Yesterday we picked the perfect day, blue skies and sunshine, to go to the small coastal town of Anglesea. We got onto the coach at 10.15am, cost us $9.20 each for a day return which wasn't too bad, we didn't plan on spending much more for the rest of the day as we took some food with us.
We arrived at Anglesea around 11am, it was only a short coach ride, the night before we scribbled down some directions so we kind of knew where we were going. Our plan was to see some skippy's at the local golf course as they have made it their home, apparently they like to rome around the golf courses in Oz, I have no idea why! Our directions were pretty useless, so we resorted to asking a friendly Australian man who pointed us in the right direction.
We walked for about 15 mins then found what we were looking for, the golf course, we wondered around the outskirts trying to spot the roo's, the first couple we saw were pretty far away but we could see them. So we made our way to the golf clubhouse, on the way we spotted signs
that stated 'NO ACCESS to golf course for Kangaroo Viewing'! We were disappointed as we went to Anglesea with the idea that we would be able to walk around the course, so we decided to break the rules LOL rebels! We thought to ourselves we didn't travel this far to not see any kangaroo's up close!
After a few minutes deciding on the best place to go we suspiciously walked down the practice grounds of the course, looking worried in case we got told to get off! Despite our fear we managed to get within 6-8ft of one of the roo's, well I did, Liam got a bit scared lol! We also spotted a bunch of them resting in the shade, but they were further away so we couldn't get too close to them. We were hoping they would stand up but they were being lazy! 10 minutes later we walked back to the clubhouse and made our quick escape before anyone saw us, luckily noone did! On the way out of the course around the outskirts we spotted the skippy's we saw before, they started hopping around it was pretty cool to see and we tried to take
a few more photographs too, hopefully this won't be our only sighting of the animals!
We then took a short walk to the Visitor Information Centre to get a map and some advice as to where to go for a walk. The woman was helpful and directed us to the cliff top walk, but first of all we wanted lunch and to go down to the beach. The beach was lovely, the sunshine made it even better! The waves were pretty good, only this time I wasn't surfing! We took a few photo's then made our way to the cliff top's, we walked along for a while and took some photo's by jumping over a few fences to get the best view! We felt like right rebel's, risking it all for a good photograph or two!
We wondered back to the beach and got our feet wet in the sea, it was pretty cold not the sort of temperature you would want to go swimming in! After looking at the map we made our way to Coogoorah Park, a nature reserve. The park was made up of mostly marsh land and reeds, we saw a few people fishing
but they didn't look like were having much luck. Supposedly Salmon and Snapper fish are found in the reserve but we didn't spot any! We did spot some sort of white Stork/Heroin bird, which had a really big wingspan, we managed to get a few photos!
After the reserve we got an ice cream and sat down for a while, then back to the beach until it got too cold, it was very windy! There wasn't much in Anglesea even less than Lorne, but it was nice to spend some time there, especially as the weather was so nice and to see the kanga's! We got the coach back at 4.20pm then walked home from the bus/train station. All in all we had a good day and managed not to spend too much money, we are planning to take a similar trip in the next few week's to somewhere else along the Great Ocean Road, maybe Torquay or Bells Beach if the weather is nice!
Last night we were pretty tired, we watched The 6th Day, remember Mum and Dad I used to love that film, I have it on video back at home lol, we were too
tired to watch the whole film! Today we had a lie in, I keep telling Liam he is becoming lazy like me, he is still blaming it on the jet lag lol! We cleaned the house today, with Hannah and David, parent's you'll be happy to know we know how to clean! We are going to make Rocky Road tmz, yummy and search for some more jobs, oh and food shopping we have found out that going late at night means the meat is often cheaper which is good!
Will update soon, hope you enjoy the photos! Love you all xxxx
