Today I will be catching up on the past two days travels. I was required to skip a day since our tour visited Cradle Mountain, another Heritage Site in Tasmania. We had absolutely no cell or internet service during this time. Yesterday we traveled to Cradle Mountain which lies at an altitude of about 4,000 feet and reminded me very much of an Alpine meadow. On the way, we were stopped 30 km from or destination with our road totally blocked by two large trees which fell on the road only a few minutes before we arrived. While our group expected to be stopped for many hours, to our surprise, one hour after we were stopped, two men in an SUV from a resort down the hill appeared with chain saws and quickly took the trees apart to open the road. We arrived at our destination just one hour late and had a very excellent group dinner at the Cradle Mountain lodge. Cradle Mountain is a mountain ridge connected with a beautiful Dove Lake and many moss filled meadows. One of our group suggested that we were only missing Yoda coming up from the moss. Later we had a beautiful dinner at the lodge and settled in to our individual cabins, heated only by a wooden fireplace.

We took an evening tour of the area to view the various animals which populate Cradle Mountain, which include Wombats, an animal which resembles a small bear and

This morning we left Cradle Mountain, stopping at several small towns on our way to Launceston, the second largest city in Tasmania. To put things in perspective, total Tasmania has a population of 2,000,000 with Hobart representing 250,000 and Launceston having a population of 100,000.

I have included several pictures from the past two days travels.
