On a whim I turned off Route 1 to drive through Ross and it turned into a real find. I rate the town FIVE STARS with all its historic buildings and more. The wool museum is well worth a visit also. It was fun just to stroll up and down the main street and see all the old buildings. There are a couple of bake shops with great looking pastries plus a wood craft center. Pat and I enjoyed browsing through the shop admiring all the wood products on display. Don’t miss the historic Ross Bridge and take a hike down to the Female Factory where female convicts worked.
The Tasmanian Wool Centre has an excellent display of different wools and products, some for sale. There are two films on wool processing, including sheering. The museum covers the history of wool in the area plus local Tasmanian history. I had to drag Pat out of there to continue onto Hobart.
