I arrived very early in the morning into Hobart, Tasmania. My airport shuttle took me to my hostel and I was able to check in straight away. I walked down to the car rental place and picked up my little car for the week. My first stop was to drive down to the information center to get maps and info and things I need to see in Tasmania. I picked up heaps of brochures and walked around the waterfront area. It was a warmish (18 degrees) but with a cold wind day in Hobart with a few clouds in the sky. I decided to head to the grocery store and stock up now that I've got a car for the week. Grabbed some lunch and then decided to make the drive up to Mount Wellington which ... read more

Goofy Pizza on Tuesday night was brilliant! A big drive to Bec’s place (around 650km) but the old girl travelled really well & we arrived around 5pm. Would have been earlier except for the mad traffic – going toward the city at 4.30pm in the afternoon?!? The best bit about Tuesday night was actually that Bec has been eating all the pies – AKA is pregnant! We are all very excited. Chris had each day off that we were there so that worked well. All in all, our time in Melbourne was pretty relaxed. Suz did a bit of shopping, got a haircut, etc. I had a few beers with the boys, got a haircut, etc. The kids played with the pups a fair bit, gave the Xbox 360 a flogging & generally had a heap ... read more

Why hello! Been too long, hasn’t it? I know, but I have a good excuse - been super busy teaching at a couple different schools here, and it has been great to get back at it. Finally making some money too! Not too shabby. Anyways, besides that not much has happened. Still sailing a lot and learning more and more each time I go. I get my certification as a pirate any day now. I’m also taking some of my free time to write a book. I always wanted to and now I have the chance. I’m 78,000 words in, should be done between 90-100kw words. Then I’ll try and get it published (hopefully). If that doesn’t work, I am going to self publish as an E-Book. So hopefully all you with iPads and Kindles will ... read more

Finally, we are off! After a few hiccups early (spilt beer in vehicle prior to leaving the driveway) & some hijinx along the way (broke both mobile phone cradles), we finally got to Devonport to jump on the boat. Well, to be honest, we finally arrived two hours early to have a few beers with Dave Whelan at The Edgewater Hotel, a pizza while waiting in line to get on the boat & a six pack of Bundy cans to wash it down. Can't wait for the next exciting installment/epic fail.... read more

No more work for 12 whole weeks. Woooooooooooooooooot Unless you count packing & unpacking the camping gear every couple of days ;-) It'll be fun though. Sorry to the folks at work I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to - bloody Big Steve was giving me tips on where to go near the Alice right up until the last minute. Eight days in Finke, here we come! I would also have loved to have a beer to remind everyone exactly how long I have off but it wasn't to be. I'm taking the boy to Auskick in a minute. I might be able to take a couple of hangers & kick a goal or two on him :-) I'll start packing tomorrow I suppose. At least I can do it with a beer in ... read more

Less than a week to go! At this time next week Phil & I will be a Bec's & Bec's husband Chris' place in Essendon (yay) North, enjoying a coffee before trying to put some bucket seats in the Mav rather then the bench seat I have in the front at present. And also hooking my UHF up to the accessories rather than straight onto the battery but I haven't told Phil or Chris that one yet! We will also no doubt admire Chris' scars from his recent shoulder reconstruction & get pounced on by Knackers & Heidi. I'm off to Canberra for a few days today which is a bit of a bugger, but I have Thursday off so hopefully I can get some stuff done (bottle the latest batch of home brew!) while the ... read more

This time in two weeks Phil & I will be enjoying our first beer at Bec's place with Chris while we wait for the girls & kids to arrive later in the afternoon. Then it will be off to Echuca for the night. I'm looking forward to putting the bucket seats in the Maverick as the bench seats & my UHF being where the ash tray was means I don't have anywhere to put my stubbie......er, I mean wallet, Phone & stuff. Although by now I think they may have become a permanent fixture of Chris' car being in his boot for the last month & a half. The finishing touches are going on the vehicles - on Saturday we (by we I mean Phil) put some heavy duty shocks in the Navara & I (by ... read more
