We woke up to clear blue skies in Victor Harbour
We woke up to glorious sunshine here in Victor Harbour this morning so could get dressed for summer for our full day here.

We tried to get on a morning boat tour but missed out so booked a shorter trip for the afternoon, we were halfway across the causeway so carried on to Granite Island to see the penguin centre. Unfortunately, even though the room map mentions it, it no longer exists so after a drink in the café we headed back towards town. We were going to use the horsedrawn tram but decided to walk instead, I think it was quicker anyway and saved us $30! We sat and had a quick beer in the Hotel Victor and then headed back to the room, for a bit of lunch and a top up on the sun screen and bug spray.

We took a steady stroll back out to the jetty for our boat trip at 2pm. It was a fairly small group on a boat sporting 3 Yamaha 250bhp engines so we could get around pretty quickly. We headed out to Seal Island but there weren’t many out as the temperature was so high (low 30’s at this

There was only one tram running today, with two horses sharing the work
point), we did manage to see a couple hiding in the shade and a number of different birds. Captain Kirk (no, not of the starship Enterprise) headed around Granite Island across to what is known as Turtle Island due to its shape and then past Encounter Bay and The Bluff, he was looking for dolphins at this point but there were none around. We then headed back toward the jetty but he had one last shot at the dolphins and headed towards Pullen Island where we picked up a school of Common Dolphins that were feeding, they followed the boat for a while before he sped up and headed back, throwing a figure of 8 at the last minute. As this was the last trip of his day we got an extra 15 minutes which was nice.

Having disembarked we set off for the 3k walk around Granite Island, always on the look out for wildlife, Sue managed to spot a penguin in its nest, we did try to get a photo but there were too many shadows, nice to see though. We climbed up the steps to the top of the Island which then gave us some great

Look closely and you will see a Sea Lion snoozing in the shade
views of the two bays and Victor Harbour itself, with photo stops the walk took about an hour and due to the heat, we decided to head back into town and back to the room for some cool air.

Having had a Fish and Chip takeaway last night we are looking at going out for dinner this evening, there are a lot of options here in Victor Harbour.
