1-4-10 Well we have been a bit lazy today, we sat around I caught up on diaries & photos 7 posted two blog’s , we had lunch & went fishing on the jetty & Cheryl caught a squid straight away, then nobody caught anything. We gave up & came back & Cheryl soaked the squid in milk then crumbed some rings & floured others. It was the best Calamari I have eaten, we had it with salad YUMMY. We had an early night , It has been windy & a little cold today. 2-4-10 Today I tidied up & swept etc while Den caught up on the banking etc, I cut Cheryl’s hair & by this time we had lunch & went fishing off the jetty. I caught a little Leather Jacket but all the fish had gone to bed & we came home frozen as the wind was blowing. I was only about 20 deg today. We cooked up fish for tea, with potato bake & Cheryl made egg & asparagus patties, we are really slumming it. We had another early night as the wind was so cold. Saturday 3-4-10 Happy 1st Birthday Riley, have a great day. Happy Birthday
Ron & Happy Anniversary Dad & Ivy xxxx It’s really cold & cloudy today, so I read my emails & had a lazy morning. Cheryl & I went onto the pier & we rugged up, we froze, but Cheryl caught another Squid, so it was worth it. The boys went off to sight see & went into Lincoln National Park ($8 per car)up to Cape Donington to the Lighthouse. They stopped on the way back at Engine Point , Fisherman’s Point & Surfleet Cove. They then went into town & saw the main jetty where a lot of people fish for Salmon, & arrived back at camp at 5pm & we cooked steak & salad for tea & then we played cards. Sunday 4-4-10 Happy Easter everyone, Today is a hot beautiful day & no wind. We tried to get on Skype but our reception was not good & it kept dropping out. I am missing the family today & having a down day, Cheryl had to give me a cuddle. We did the washing & cleaned up then , Den & Tony gathered Razor Fish from the sand in the water at the beach (they are like a scallop).
They take a bit of opening but once you know how its good. We had Calamari rings & the Razor fish done in garlic butter, YUMMY. The boys took the Kayak out fishing but did not catch anything & us girls went Squidding again & I finally caught one “yeah” . We came back & Den had a rest & I got a chicken baked dinner ready with all the vegies & white sauce & cauliflower. We had an early night. Monday 5-4-10 Us girls went into Port Lincoln to get a few more supplies & the boys went & got a feed of Razor Fish & when we got home we all went Squidding at the pier & guess what I caught another one, yes. It is very overcast today & the wind has come up, we call it quits & Cheryl comes back & makes a stuffing to go in the Squid & then is making a spaghetti sauce, cant wait to taste it. Well tea was sensational, I am going to have to learn some Italian cooking. The day ended up raining, with a bit of thunder & lightning later& a huge downpour over night It would
have been 24 deg today but the wind chill factor was a lot colder. Tuesday 6-4-10 We all went into Port Lincoln today to get fuel for the generator & try our luck fishing at the big pier in town. It was pretty cool & the wind was blowing again, but no rain. The fishing trawlers were unloading their catches & it was fascinating to watch. Well first up we saw Sea Lions for the first time for us girls, they were gorgeous at first but we were soon sick of them as they wanted our bait. We called them Sammy & Sally. There were heaps of people fishing, so we all threw our lines in & guess what I caught straight off, a bird (yes A BIRD) only I could do that. I had hooked it in the leg, so Den & Tony had to pull the poor bird out of the water & onto the pier to get the hook out, with all these people looking on, I felt like an idiot. Lucky the bird did not swallow the bait & hook & when they let it go it flew off. What a Wally I am. Anyway we
then moved around the corner & the boys started to pull in Salmon, smaller ones, then I hooked two big ones , but they got away. (the old fisherman’s story) we were using very smelly & soft Herring that squished between your fingers, YUK, but like a true fisherman I baited my hooks. (but I am still not going to clean a squid, that is really gross, Sammy & Sally Sea Loins turned up again & we called it quits. The boys went to get some bait (Herrings) off the fishing trawlers & we went back to camp. It was windy & spitting when we got back so we had an easy avo & met for Happy Hour. It was 22 deg today but the wind made it feel colder. Wednesday 7-4-10 It is very overcast & cooler today only 21 deg, after breaky Jake went missing & it took ½ an hour to find him, he’s in the bad books now, He’s on is lead & doing time out. Today we went into Centrelink & filled up the car with gas 68c per litre YES!!!! Then we came back to camp & we had lunch & while Den packed
up the annex, I gave the van a clean inside. An early night tonight as we are heading to Whyalla tomorrow with probably one night free camp on the way . Should be there by Friday. Cheers everyone.
