HECTORS AT THE WHARF
Another great lunch spot! Left Melbourne 6.45a.m. on Friday 14.8.2016 - breakfast with our gorgeous kids in Ballarat and then onwards to the Fleurieu Peninsula arriving in Normanville around 4.30p.m. Have booked a week at the Lady Bay Links Resort in Normanville, a quaint little seaside town, the resort itself is on a golf course, great little one bedroom apartments, Lady Bay Links has a restaurant and bar and just a klm into town. Had this booked and paid for, for ages, so decided still to come with plastered leg etc.....mmmmmm was that a good idea?? Anyway making the most of it.. fell twice...all good...lots of laughs from the males of the outfit.....at the expense of their unco spastic companion.. Mark has sore ribs from laughing but anyway we are having a pretty good time. The weather has been fantastic just a bit drizzly the first day. Saturday just spent the day locally and took a trip over to Cape Jervis (where the ferry goes across to Kangaroo Island) then dinner at the local hotel, terrible meal! Then the next night went to the Court House Cafe, a great little cafe housed in the old court house, food very good quality and a great wine
CAPE JERVIS
FERRY TERMINAL list. Sunday we were chuffed to be invited up to Seacliff in Adelaide for lunch with old Seddon identities and lovely friends, had a beautiful lunch at their newly renovated home which Alberto has virtually done one handedly. Great day had by all!
Monday decided to head to McLaren Vale and do the wineries (30 minute drive so nice and close) ... only did 4 wineries so heading back on Thursday.. had the most amazing lunch at d'Arrys Verandah at d'Arenberg Winery.. roo and steaks with a great bottle of Footbolt.. desserts of Chocolate Decadence and passionfruit souffle with Spanish sherry...yummm! Tuesday headed to Victor Harbour, Port Elliot and Goolwa such pretty little seaside towns and lunched at Hectors on the Wharf at Goolwa.. another great little lunch spot. Thursday another day at McLaren Vale, such a lovely area, went to Molly Dooker (our favourite wine Blue Eyed Boy) and had a tasting and came away with 18 bottles - Chapel Hill Winery has been built onto a beautiful old Methodist church, very friendly people here - then onto a couple more wineries and a brewery. Back to Yankalilla Hotel for our last dinner in SA. Left Normanville Friday
LEONARDS MILL - SECOND VALLEY
Great restaurant and coffee spot! morning at 7.15 and stopped in Mt Barker for breaky, and what a cracker of a breaky - Sazon Expresso - great coffee! Planned to get to Great Western to spend the night with the Bongiovanni's at their farm just outside Great Western - had a great catch up - down to local pub for happy hour and back to the house for a delicious BBQ dinner shared with a family from the next farm over. Back to Melbourne Saturday.
