VA7, a Boeing 777-300ER direct flight, 13 hours. Quite comfy in Premium Economy, larger seats and good catering. Better movies than with Qantas. I watched The Martian (Matt Damon, pretty good), A Walk in the Woods (Robert Redford, don't bother) and The Intern (Anne Hathaway, good).

We arrive at 6:30am (12:30am body time) with a whole day before us before bed time. Only napped on the plane so I expect we'll be flagging by nightfall. Erin has planned a quiet day, we'll pick up the hire car and drive to her apartment in Marina Del Rey, about 20min from Thrifty.

Picked up a good looking Jeep Cherokee from Thrifty and found Erin's apartment with no drama. Plenty of secure visitor parking under the complex. Had a two-hour nap and went out in the afternoon/evening to Santa Monica to browse the Promenade, eat, drink and sort out Robyn's non-working SIM card. As usual, it turned into a saga not yet resolved - to be continued on Sunday.
