Diving was absolutely awesome saw coral and fish and all sorts of magnificent colours and 'I like fish I do' Whitsundays as can see from pictures are absolutely beautiful! Whitesands is pure paradise and just little better than whitesands back home I think!!! For definate! Spent three days on boat and it was fun loved every second although eleven irish people can be a bit much, as all alcoholics!!!! ... read more

yowza! Greetings all. I have just returned from a splendid adventure. I will describe as skillfully as i can: Lara finished exams with apparent success...and moments latar....blammo!...we disappeared on to our trip. We took a bus to Townsville...and picked up her friend Ashley. This bus went on to a place called Airlie Beach. This is your standard tropical paradise town...lots of nice little shops...perfect weather....beautiful boats,water, harbour etc. What makes this town special is that it has 75 beautiful islands connected to it. They are called the WhitSunday islands. We did a little research and found out that some of them are national parks and you can actually rent one for yourself. We have just been to the Whitsundays and it was basically 'hotter than hell' (our most used phrase of the week!). Luckily, we spent most of our time on a boat with sea breezes and air-conditioned cabins- sheer luxury. We spent 3 days and nights cruising around the gorgeous tropical islands and visiting the best dive and snorkel spots. Many of the coral 'bommies' were so high that they almost reached the surface fron 20 metres below, so were good for snorkelling. The coral and fish life were so colourful. I also got to use my diving certification for the first time since leaving Thailand. For the first dive I was pretty nervous, but everything went ok.
