Wow! What a day...or rather, what a night! I was feeling great last night having met Bella and having dinner with her. Then I started having the usual symptoms of UTI at 11:30pm. I was contemplating what to do...whether to wait it out or see a doc. I decided with the latter and off I went at 12:30am to the 24 hour clinic. I was the only person there, so I was able to see the doc right away. He didn't do a test, he just asked me what I was in for and he prescribed me meds right away. I guess its that easy :/ I started to feel a bit better after taking the first set of antibiotics. I didn't get to sleep til about 2:00am and I had to wake up at 5:30am ... read more

I'm back! I survived! And it's my job to write the blog again, as my lovely darling Michele was unable to attend the Tully River White Water Rafting with us. Up at 5:30 this morning. And Speaking of Tully itself, it is apparently known for being the wettest place in Australia (which they decided to honour with a giant gumboot in town). Oh yeah, and also apparently the best rafting river in Australia and NZ. We organised our rafting trip through Raging Thunder, whose staff were all very friendly and amusing. After all the introductory jibber-jabber, we headed to the ... read more

Some of us on the tour decided to go white water rafting from Cairns before we all separated, so our tour guide decided to join us on his day off. He booked us the tour, but then the night before had to go back to work and drive down to Airlie to evacuate people because of the cyclone down there. So it meant he couldn't come with us. So on the day, we realise he's booked us into the Xtreme Rafting - not just regular rafting. The other girls were freaking out, but I was stoked and couldn't wait. Turns out both trips did the same rapids but on the Xtreme you got to jump out of the raft and swim some rapids, leap off cliffs, flip the boat (on purpose) and generally muck around more ... read more

When looking into a route for Australia, we found out that there was a small town called Tully on the northern part of the East Coast. Now, even though I am officially a Goddard, I still have Tully roots and thus wanted to take a good look around Tully. And as I’ve recently inherited some Tully roots, I went along for the ride. Next year I’m taking Cate to Goddard (in Texas). After not being able to contact any of the hostels in Tully for long enough to book a room for the next night on the silly payphones in Townsville, we decided to take the Greyhound from Townsville to Tully early the following morning then take another Greyhound bus from Tully to Cairns mid-afternoon the same day. Tully is a small town with a population ... read more
