G’day G’day, Well I thought it was about time I wrote to everyone. It’s now drawing near to Christmas and about time for me to extend my visa as I have now finished working at the meatworks which I needed to do in order to qualify for a 2nd visa. I’m now on the Gold Coast staying at a friend’s house and eating all his food and drinking all his beer!! Rocking Rocky didn’t turn out to be as bad as I’d expected... I met some awesome people in the hostel and made some great friends. I also managed to go to Great Keppel Island which is beautiful - if not expensive. But worth it. In fact I liked it so much I went twice. I had two four day weekends so I used them to ... read more

Big day out today. Paul started with an early game of golf and then we went walking in the city centre. There are many grand old buildings several of which are Heritage listed. Then went to Mount Morgan about 40 Km away where there has been gold, copper and silver mined in the past. Had a picnic lunch by a dam which is very low. ... read more

A day out and about exploring the Capricorn Coast beaches and towns. Went initially to Yeppoon and then on to the Rydges Resort to check out the golf course. The Pro Am Classic is held there each year. Other stops included the Rosslyn Bay Marina and Emu Park for lunch before returning to Rockhampton and having a quick look at the city centre. Hot and tired by then so will have to have a better look tomorrow.... read more

Today we went to Rockhampton. I didn't end up witting anything today in the note book I had away with me but from what I remember it was a pretty quiet night. Not to much going on in Rockhampton. That night we had an optional dinner and excursion to a crocodile farm. We had a tour at night of the crocs and learnt how to spotlight there eyes. They have a big croc there with half a jaw as he was aggressive and kept attacking other crocs and one day - he lost that fight. I remember the guy who owned the croc farm was pretty hot thou. All us girls thought so. When we were out in the dark one of the girls let out a crazy scream. So everyone jumped. It scared the hell ... read more

A big trip today for the Hamers of approx 210 Km. Had a stop for a cuppa and then kept going to Rockhampton. Rather hot at 34 deg and somewhat humid. Just went to the botanic gardens and their little free zoo in time to see the chimpanzees being fed.... read more

Rockhampton - Mt. Morgan - Yeppoon We decided to stay in Gracemere, just outside Rockhampton, for 10 days as our travelling companion, John, has three children living in the area so it was the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with them. Rockhampton is an attractive City, sitting on the wide, tidal Fitzroy River. It has some facinating old buildings very well restored. Rockhampton is the Cattle City of Australia, the Brahmen cattle being their pride and joy. There is a statue of the bull at the entrance to the city with bulls appearing throughout the city both as monuments and advertising banners. We noted a huge statue advertising a financial company with "VALUABULL" in huge letters. Another advertising a removal company blazoned out "RE-MOO-VABULL" and yet another advertising a leasing company with "LEASEABULL" written ... read more

We stayed at Rosslyn Bay longer than expected due to the weather, the winds to be precise, but gave us enough time for shopping and do a couple of loads of washing. We got to get the courtesy car from the marina a couple of times so we could go touristing and bring our shopping instead of catching the local bus. Its good to share with Peter and Sherry as they have been here before and know the area. All four of us went for dinner at a local restaurant, The Beaches, it was fantastic, great Western Australian wine and beautiful seafood. Yeppoon is nothing out of this world, and we didn’t go all the way into Rockhampton. David and Heather from The Catch are still in Gladstone trying to fix their gear box, so still ... read more

Goodbye Yellow Patch  Australasia » Australia » Queensland » Rockhampton By Spirit Of OzzJuly 18th 2007 After so many wonderful days here, fishing day and night and in between, enjoying the good weather, learning how to play cards with Peter and Cherry, adventuring up the sand dune, admiring the view from the top and coming down on a 45 degree angle, wow, and have learned or better say forced to learn how to put the bait on the hook (yukky), it is time to leave this place with great memories. The trip to Rosslyn marina in Yeppoon, north of Rockhampton took 5 hours, the weather was perfect and saw d... read more
