Lumpy legs
I have great legs. The sandflies love them. I had a day off from writing yesterday, therefore I will cover two days today. The love hate relationship with nature continues. I continue to lather creams on my bites to control the itch but have worked out that it is best to keep covered early in the morning and from late afternoon. I don't think a conversion to Islam is going to be necessary after all.
We went fishing from the beach yesterday. We caught two swallow-tailed darts, one each. We also caught a couple of other fish, but as they were a bit on the small side we sent them back. When we were packing everything into the car I noticed a sea eagle sitting on a ledge above us. I suggested to Frank that it might like our left-over bait. He thought it would prefer one of the two small fish we had caught the previous day and had planned to use as bait. He threw it onto the sand in front of the eagle and it immediately flew down and picked it up, then flew up the beach a bit and ate it. Then it came back and looked like it wanted more. With me recording
Sea Eagle eating
We had a wonderful encounter with this sea eagle. I took this picture while it was eating a small fish we gave it. it on video, Frank threw the second fish, hoping the eagle would catch it in mid air. The eagle tried to, but Frank's throw was terrible and the fish came down near me, hitting me in the side of the face. On the third attempt, Frank threw the fish so that the eagle could catch it, which I did manage to record. We thought that it was a very special experience having this encounter with the eagle. Much better that being slapped on the side of the face with a dead fish.
As the weekend was upon us, we took the boat out of the water when we got back to our camp. Frank managed to get it up on top of the car single-handed. As he didn't need me, I sat in the car and avoided the sandflies. As the boat needed a good clean Frank went to take the boat of the car this morning and our new and expensive boat loader broke, resulting in the boat falling and damaging the car. We are not at all impressed and now are going to have to try to get a replacement part from the manufacturers in the next
Oops.
After fishing from the beach, we were heading back up the track when we became slightly bogged. Frank had let air out of the tyres for beach driving, but clearly not enough. After he let some more air out we were able to continue on our way. couple of days. I hope the company doesn't muck us around. I don't know who is going to pay for the damage to the car.
The second drama of the day occurred after we lent a new camper a power cord. He had originally booked a powered site but it was very dirty and not good for his small children, so they moved to a grassed area without power. They needed power to run the microwave to heat up the baby bottle. We went off for a walk and returned to an argument between the young father and the man in the mobile home next to us. Man #2 was angry man#1 had run the power cord under his van without asking permission, so went to management and complained. We thought it was an over reaction, but the cord was disconnected and returned to us. We were disappointed for man #1 as he was only trying to look after his family. We don't have a microwave otherwise I would have offered to heat it for them. I guess they will have to heat it in boiling water like we had to do before microwaves.
The weather wasn't very
Two Codgers
This picture has absolutely no purpose but to record a moment in time. We were both amused by these two gentlemen. I am not sure they were quite as amused when they realised they had been snapped. pleasant today, lots of rain, so we had a rest day. Frank did some maintenance work on the car and boat while i did some house work. In the evening we took our freshly pumped yabbies down to the boat ramp for a spot of fishing before dinner. Frank caught a decent sized mystery fish. We haven't been able to identify it so have asked the advice of others. We are still waiting for an answer, but so far nobody else seems to know either.
Tomorrow we will be heading into Gympie for the market and some shopping.
