Australia Zoo
Tyler's sweet pic of the tiger jumping in the pool after a toy We have been here in Australia for almost two months!! We have found a campervan and named it Flip. We have traveled up the east coast all the way up to the top. We are now in the middle of the outback in Mt Isa. We have been able to not pay for a campsite since we went to the Great Barrier Reef, but our vehcile is getting fixed so we have been homeless for a week. We have rented a cabin in this small town, and have been getting our fix of TV since we have been here. Since Sydney the main highlights of our trip so far have been:
-Dolphins at Wallaby point... just a week of being here living in our van we went to a small town beach for tyler to try out his new surf board. I ate breakfast and watched Tyler surfing with the Dolphins. Sooo amazing!
-Byron Bay....Surf lessons and we spent a week there just chilling out
-Glass House Mountains...We climbed mt Ngungun, and at the top was a beautiful view!!! It was a nice relaxing place to go. It was worth the hike up.
-Australia Zoo...CRIKEY!! It was
a lot of fun, very interactive with the animals. We got to feed the elephants, kangaroos, and pet Kowalas :D We did almost hit 2 kangaroos while drivingoff the main highway one day...but that is as close to wild ones as we have got.
-Fraser Island...Saw Dingoes, Whales, Dolphins, turtles, and stingers!! Also its the largest sand Island in the world
-Maryborogh pub crawl!!..We participated in the World's largest pub crawl in Maryborogh! There were sooo many people it was crazy fuN!! I wish I could go again next year!
-Home Hill...A free place to camp in town with warm showers 😊 We met a great Australian couple who are retired and traveling around Australia for two years with their tralier! She fed us Ozzie Lamb Stew, such a nice change from our noodles and tuna we usually have!!! Then the next day she gave us yummy slice cake! we were so happy to have met them, they gave us really good traveling advice.
-Bowen...The small town where they filmed the movie Australia, It was just as pretty as Airlie Beach and had a fraction of the tourists. We dint want to pay for a campsite
so we slept in a hotel parking lot the first night, that was fine but very loud at like 3am because of the world cup. So bc the town was soo pretty we wanted to stay another day. We decided to find a quiet place to stay so went into a mall parking lot......hahah in the middle of the night mall security came by and woke us up as well as told us we had to leave town to a service station if we wanted to stay for free. we were ok with that but as we were leaving town the cops pulled us over! Hahaha fandom breath check for ty, too easy. But as we were leaving town in the middle of the night we couldn't help feeling 'kicked out' haha. Too bad for us but it was our own fault.
-Cold Showers....We are living out of our camper van and one of the newest experiences for me is cold showers!!!!! They are free but not the most pleasant. But the main thing is that they are free! :D It beats being dirty
-Babinda...the boulders. Very nice we took a swim in the fresh water while it
Australia Zoo
Feedin me some kangas! rained. We spent 4 nights in free camping around there and it RAINED the whole time! the van on the inside was soaking hahah so humid and damp, our gum in the package turned mushy. we spent 4 days in the rainforest and it rained the whole time so what did we expect?haha
-Port Douglas/Carins...Great Barrier Reef trip!! It was great great great! So amazing to see all the fish out on the reef! We snorkled at two different spots on the reef. It was so amazing! We took a lot of videos, so we can share with everyone what we saw 😊 we went with Haba and it was great
-Gympie/Townsville/Sarina/Mt Isa....all the towns we have had to stop at because our vehicle Flip has had to go into the shop! Haha yah not very fun worrying about your vehicle while you are supposed to be having a great trip...but what can you do 😊 We have had the fule pump fixed, carb cleaned out, and at the current moment we are now getting the transmission redone on it. Fun stuff right?! Oh well at least we are still living :D
We are missing a lot
of other events but its hard to think on the spot. We are extremely missing home cooking!!! We have been living off of peanut butter and banana sandwiches. As well as noodles and tuna, hahah. Today Tyler got brave enough to buy some Veggimite! We tried it once on a bun and its not very good but tyler has a feeling he may like it.... we will see 😊 I had a craving for toasted tomato sandwiches, might have that tonight b.c we have a kitchen in the cabin we are staying. We are also taking advantage of the tv here, since we havent watched anything since we left home haha. The things we take for granted.
Hope to keep you all updated as much as possible, but we never know when we will have service or power for the lap top.
