Cairns to Mareeba

Howdy from Mareeba. Mareeba is inland from Cairns, on our way toward the Northern Territory.

Today we went to a town called Atherton & visited the Crystal Caves. There is a photo of us with a giant Amethyst Geode. Look at how big it is! Tomorrow we go further west to a town called Georgetown where we will be going to a rodeo to see bull riding, horse riding & other things. It should be great fun.

The last few days have been really wet so we haven’t had a lot of fun, although we have had some time to swim in swimming holes & pools, fish & we also did a big 4WD trip called The Bloomfield Track. It was really bumpy, muddy & we had to drive through a few rivers. Dad’s truck was covered in mud!

The campground we are at today has lots of wild kangaroos that we were hopping near this morning. There were 33 of them. Yesterday we saw a lot of wild horses running around. Some came close to the car.

After Georgetown we will probably go to a place called Karumba, but Dad hasn’t decided for sure yet.
