The Big Avocado
Oh, what a beauty. I have never seen one as big as that before, Welcome back. You have been gone for a while. While you have been gone, we have been having a holiday. Once on the road again after replacing the broken spring in Maidenwell, we finally reached our destination of Hervey Bay. When we stayed at Tamworth, we were asked if we had booked somewhere, because it will be very busy. Of course we hadn’t, because we have a tendency to stop when we feel like it, hence no definite plans. Taking that question as a bit of sage advice, we studied the accommodation guide to find a park that would take dogs. The first one I rang had a site for us and would hold it. That wasn’t so hard after all.
We loved Hervey Bay when we were last here, a lovely seaside town, the hub of fishing and whale watching, and the gateway to Fraser Island. Twenty-five years later, it is a massively developed city with high-rise buildings. not at all as we remembered. We are staying at a park in Point Vernon. Initially we were going to stay for three weeks, but will be moving on after a week to Burrum Heads, a lovely little seaside town. The

Poor exhausted things. They had a big day. Hervey Bay area is very nice, lots of shops etc, but it is not what we planned. Our site is very confined and it was difficult to get the van on it. We have nowhere to park the car and our outlook is a fence and an ensuite. The ensuite is very handy though.
Since we arrived, we have been busy, sightseeing, eating, fishing, etc. We went for a drive to Burrum Heads and had lunch at Toogoom on Friday. We picked out potential fishing spots and returned there on Saturday to try them out. Still no fish, but we are not alone. There aren’t many fish being caught,. According to the people we have spoken to, it has something to do with all the rain in the area over recent times. However, it is apparently an excellent season for mud crabs, which is a good thing, because we forked out money for a crab net at the Burrum Heads market. We also bought the biggest avocado I have ever seen and a beautiful pineapple. We are looking forward to crabbing. I don’t know what we are going to do if we catch any, because we don’t have a
Leave me alone.
It is hard getting comfortable when you are all leg. pot big enough to cook them in. While we out fishing, I managed to get a good sunburn and a badly bruised little toe from stubbing it on a rock. I thought I many have broken it initially, but it just seems to be bruised.
This morning I discovered that I also had a heap of sand-fly bites as well. Lucky me. Frank came away unscathed. On the next fishing trip, I will be wearing a good layer of insect repellent to go with the sunscreen.
We visited the Koala Market this morning. We joined the queue at the mobile dog wash there and now have two lovely smelling and clean dogs. I think we enjoyed their bath more than they did. They might go back next week for another. Many people asking about Sally, the Whippet stopped us. Bubble just wanted to take on every dog she saw there, and there were many. Now they are both exhausted.
The weather has been lovely with clear skies, sunshine, and a temperature of around 21 degrees.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
