Sarah, the first person on the trip to throw up. This is the look on her face moments before she grabbed for the barf bag
Tuesday October 2nd

Tuesday night at 11:30 PM the bus rolled out of the UQ parking lot making the beginning of a long overnight journey to Heron Island. I popped a sleeping pill and tried my best to sleep on the most uncomfortable bus ever without a proper pillow. Let me just say, it was not a very successful sleep. We got to the harbor at about 8:00 in the morning and waited in the grass for 3 hours to catch the ferry. During this wait I slept better than I did the whole night before. At 11 it was time to board the ferry. They had warned us before that ferry could be rough and to take sea sickness medication if you get motion sickness. Nobody could have imagined how rough that trip was going to be. It was a 2 hour long ride of the biggest waves I have ever ridden. We were bouncing up and down like crazy. I felt like I was on a never ending roller coaster. The waves were so big they were sloping up boat covering the windows on the ferry. The boat was a huge catamaran and it was being

tossed around like crazy. Within minutes people started turning green and soon there was a mass grab for the barf bags sitting in front of us. About twelve people from your group threw up plus there was probably another five or six who thought they might. Many other people on the ship were also falling to the wrath of sea sickness. I however, survived feeling quiet fine the whole trip and trying to help out the sick ones around me. After about a half an hour on the rocky sea we finally got into calmer water, this was the first time you could look out the window and see the beautiful blue/green water surrounding us with the island off in the distance. It was absolutely beautiful and definitely worth the treacherous trip.
