Heron Island - The Great Barrier Reef...

So its been 6 weeks since I landed on the beautiful Heron Island .....and this time has flown by but also as intense as island life is - working living working working and then living ...all with the same people,,,,, is a soap opera in itself so 6 weeks feels like 6 months but still appreciating the beautiful nature and reef. Im not going to go into detail about working on the resort as i think resort work is pretty much 'resort work' wherever you go but the island itself with the baby noddys and the crying muttin birds and the thiefing rails is a world in itself.... Turtles are starting to lay their eggs on the sandy beaches , on your days off you can snorkel with reef sharks, sting rays , shovel nosed rays....go diving the great barrier reef...we are 72km from mainland on the great barrier reef with no daytrippers and the only other people on this 20 min walk radius island is a research center so wherever you go is quiet few people.... Im sure the photographs will tell a story in itself but the last 2 months has brought a world of meeting interresting characters and a whole new idea of what next????

This is the walk up to the island as you leave the Cat on the jetty... generally you can see reef sharks and turtles around here and Gus the 6ft Grouppa that lives under the jetty...

My first day I just sat and took in the stillness of the island...200 guests, 100 staff and 50 researchers and not one person to be seen!!!
