The Morning After
Feeling very relaxed if only a little tired. We woke at 6.10 this morning and unzipped the Swag, the sun burst in bright and getting high in the sky and very warm, jumping straight out we wanted to get it packed away as we were aware there was no camping in the state forest, “though I felt this was not quite camping”
The swag was completely rolled away in about 10 minutes, and we got on with stoking up the Whisperlite, our camping stove, as we both wanted a cup of tea.
I was really proud of Caroline, she was so apprehensive about sleeping out in the Swag, especially in a country where there are so many poisonous predators, she was a real trooper, and braved it well. I did say to Caroline that if she felt to uncomfortable I would have no objection to bailing out and going back to the apartment, whatever time it was, especially when we saw the snake.
We were updating the blog at the picnic table and Caroline ask me to confirm the date, 24th I said, Caroline reminded me it was 20years to the day when the world lost Martin & Adrian, two friends that she used to work
Ceaning
Andy doing his usual cleaning - you can see how well trained he is! with. They are in our thoughts.
We walked to the Glasshouse mountains look out and it reaffirmed just why we stayed there as the scenery is breathtaking.
The information boards advised us what wildlife was in the area and noted that the Glasshouse mountains national park is home to many animal species including 11 frogs, 114 Birds 5 mammals and 11 reptiles, of these, 9 species are considered to be rare or threatened, commonly seen birds including kookaburras, magpies, rainbow lorikeets, pale headed Rosella’s and noisy minors, lace monitors (Goannas) bush tail possums and blackstriped wallabies can also be seen, along with Koala, sugar gliders, (Flying Foxes), elf Skinks, eastern Grey Kangaroo’s, and great barred frog.
I cleaned the Barbie before we left, I just wish the users before were as fastidious as Caroline and myself and had done the same before we had got there.
We were looking over the landscape with the binoculars, and the forest ranger turned up in his truck, he had a quick look around then took off, Caroline and myself were somewhat puzzled why he didn’t do anything thing about the over flowing refuse bins, though he may have called
Room with a View
This is a view from Glasshouse over toward the coast. in reinforcements.
This week is Schoolies week, when the kids finish school, and go out on a bender, I think this is why loads of beers bottles and stuff were left at the Look out
It only took 30 minutes to get home, and we both showered then rested for an hour and got our kit in.
We had to go to the bank to get a bankers cheque for the purchase of the new truck tomorrow so we went to collect it.
Following lunch we headed down to Starbucks for an afternoon coffee, to update the blog, and do some other internet stuff, which took a couple hours, then we headed back for a lounge around the pool. This evening we just have an easy night in, just relaxing and updating the blog with today’s event’s.
We are excited about tomorrow as we are driving the Hertz car back to Brisbane, then getting the train back to Nambour to collect the Nissan Patrol, from Gary Crick Nissan.
On the news tonight the Auzzie’s are jumping up and down with Joy, the cost of petrol has come down to just under a dollar, (£0.43)
litre and (£0.56) litre for petrol and they think it will drop further.
Finally last night on route to the mountains we saw a place on the map called “Bald Knob”
We have contacted Australia Zoo and sent them a picture of the snake for identification, and hope they can shed some light on it..
