Waiting to get on the barge. Very very soft sand Today is the day,we will finally get to go to Fraser Island. We started the day at the caravan park at rainbow beach. We had no hurry to leave as the low tide was at 2 pm and as such we could not go to the island until ts hours before low tide. This meant it was ideal to get on the barge no earlier than 12 noon. Well, do you think we could wait. We were on the boat at 11.30am. We just could not wait any longer. We released air out of our tyres to ensure we do not get stuck in the sand. They were a few people stuck in the sand. It was so busy. It was like Bourke street. Anyhow we got on the barge with no incident and we jumped off the barge easily. Once we got off the barge we drove on the sand, really close to the waters edge for about an hour driving at about 60kms an hour. We had never done this type of driving before. It was bizarre. Driving so close to the ocean is just so awsum. Anyhow my grandson saw what thought was a lost dog. Just happened

Still waiting. The barge got 17 cars on. to be one of the local dingoes. I missed it as I was trying to make sure I don't drive into the ocean. We are stay the first three nights at a camping ground called "central station". We had pre booked everything with the Queensland government and to our dismay we found our camp site was 9.5 km inland from the coast. Interesting that once we settled into the most dense forest in a campsite that it dingo proof (it has electric grilled front gate and fence all round. This is a beautiful place.
And lakes. We have three days here and are looking forward to some adventures in the forest and near the sea tomorrow. We will wait and see. We set up camp for a three night stay and cooked speghetti Bol for dinner and vege sandwiches for lunch. Just right.
