Saturday 27th Aug Today Dawn, Tania and Ray took us for a drive to Eungella. The day was very overcasty and drizzly as we headed off and we hoped it would clear as the day went on. We called into the Pinnacle Hotel for their famous pies for lunch, very nice, then onto Eungella National Park and we went for a lovely walk through the rain forrest - just beautiful as the mist was still hanging over the mountain so was able to take some wonderful photos. Managed to see a small platypus diving in the Broken River, also lots of turtles. Then called into the Eungella Hotel but could not see the view of the valley because of the mist. On the way home called into Sussane's cafe for afternoon tea of scones, jam and cream - yummy. Sussane had an amazing garden with lots of pebble designs all around her garden. We had a wonderful day even with the mist still hanging over Mackay all day.
We are Sue & John Barker and just starting our travels around Australia - starting from Gidgegannup (which we have sold) and will return to the property we bought in Mahogany Creek.
When we left we headed north to see our son and his family in Geraldton then headed to Exmouth where we spent a wonderful couple of months with our grandchildren, their parents and some of the most beautiful scenery we have ever seen, the most pristine, the most beautiful beaches and the spectalular Humpback Whales frollicking with their young around the Exmouth Gulf.
