12th to the 13th September, spent the last 2 days cleaning & washing, today we went to see the Mary Kathleen Museum & lookout. There was a lot of restored tractors & machinery. Margy cooked a baked dinner for tea, yummy. 14-9-11 we headed off to Winton & went about 90 klm’s & struck a couple that had lost a wheel off their van, all 6 studs had broken. Dennis & Warwick helped get the tyre back on by taking 3 studs off the other wheel & putting them on the broken one. They did a little damage to the van, but not too bad considering. They put the van on a RACQ tow truck back to Cloncurry to get it fixed. 3 hours later we headed off to Winton & got there late. We booked into Tattersall’s Caravan Park (a new one) behind the pub. The Gregory Hotel does not take vans anymore, so you can’t stay there for free. We set up & had a nice tea at the pub & then had an early night. It was our last night with Margy & Warwick as they want to look around Longreach, Barcaldine & Blackall. We have done all that so we have decided to go to Carnarvon Gorge. 15-9-11 off today, it was sad saying goodbye to them; we have travelled for 7 weeks & 7,000 klm’s we will miss the company. We travelled all day & stopped at Drummond Range Lookout (388 in Camps Book 6) about 108 klm’s from Emerald. Travelled 520 klm’s today. 16-9-11 Went to Emerald & got supplies & petrol, gas for car is down to 79.9 cents, yeah. We travelled to just short of where we are booked in for tomorrow for 3 nights at Takarakka Bush Resort at Carnarvon Gorge. We stayed at a freebie at the historic plane wreck site (it did not have a no camping sign)
