Cody and i met up with dorothy ( a friend from high school). As you read in the title we went to the great barrier reef. It was a day trip and i can safely say i had a terrible time. I puked 3 times because i was extremely sea sick. When we got to the reef an anchor line got wrapped around the propeller so we had to wait around for them to untangle it before we could go in the water. About 10 mintues after being in the water i got stung by a jelly fish, my had was red and swollen. It hurt so bad so i decided to swim back to the boat to get some spray. on the way back to the boat cody saw another jellyfish by me so he ... read more

Fuckin eh. I did the swing two days ago which was fun but nothing special. Not alot to say there. The reef trip however was amazing! I started early after a late night becuase Paul and Lisa who I met at the hostel made me come out. I had my free voucher and was told that I could save it for another day becyuase the seas were extremely rocky. I paid a $7 reef tax and this trip brought us out to the reef in record time with excellent food. Steak burgers, prawns, potato salad... etc etc etc. I ahdn't eaten this well in a while. I decided to pay extra and do an introductory dive: this was amazing and I have a new love for diving. I saw Nemo, Turtles, and a bunch of stuff ... read more

We are still in Cairns and it is slowly killing me. Cairns is a very nice city there's just not a whole lot to do. There is an ocean but it is not swimmable because the water resembles diarrhrea.... its actually very gross and there isnt sand only mud. We wish we could leave but we cant because we applied online for a tax file number. ( 47% of whatever you make is taxed if you do not have a tax file number) we cant leave untill we get this in the mail. We also set up bank accounts but we already recieved our cards in the mail. I cant wait till we can move on from here to see better parts of Australia. Cody and i went on a 2 night 3 day trip to ... read more

Well it’s been over a year since I started my blog and I am pretty proud that I have kept it up I am not sure what the future is going to bring as Cairns seemed like the ideal place to start my entry into the diving industry but after my experience the other day here I am still looking for work. So what was so bad I hear you ask well hang I will tell…….Well after using my amazing charm I managed to secure myself a three day trial with a local dive operator whom I can tell you are huge turning over about 7000 Open Water Students a year besides everything else. Day One I was on the boat and scheduled for I don’t know what but they decided in the end that the ... read more

as you all know we are now in Australia. Sydney was a very nice city with lots to do however we didnt do very much of it because we are not willing ot spend a ton of money. We went to Bondi beach which is a well known beach in Sydney. It was pretty windy and the water wasnt very warm. Our hostel had boogie boards that you could use for free so we went to the beach a couple days even though it wasnt warm. Alot of people were wearing neat looking wetsuits and surfing.... our time will come. We also went to The Opera House. It was nice to see, i got a few pics for all of you at home. beside the opera house there are walking paths with nice trees and plants ... read more

Our Kakadu experience started with a 6.30 pickup from our hostel. We had booked with Kakadu 4WD Safaris and we were greeted by our guide, Pat, a big, hairy aussie bushman, born and bred near Darwin, who has spent most of his life wondering around Kakadu. He and his family lived among aborigines for much of his childhood, and he was adopted by them, given an aboriginal name and learnt and lived their way of life. He oozed love for the place, and was full of fascinating information. He was absolutely awesome, and thanks to him we had an amazing experience. He really brought the place alive. The first morning was a fairly long drive to the park. We had to enter by the southern road as the local region had been hit by terrible floods, ... read more

Hello, After the whitsundays tour we made our way up to Mission Beach which was where we took part in the white water rafting. We were picked up around 7.30 in the morning and driven to the main base where we grabbed some breakfast and got our briefing. Within about half an hour we were on a coach being driven through the mountains to the top of the course. The sites were once again amazing and we were told that the course we were rafting through was actually surrounded by the oldest, untouched rainforest in world! The coach journey was long but when we arrived we spared no time in getting our life jackets on and getting in the water. There were seven of us and we all managed to get in the same raft together ... read more
