Ship docked in background.Attended a lecture this morning given by a fellow passenger and author named Betty Jane Wylie, from Canada. She has a quick wit and was full of inspiration for me. She instilled some confidence that I am on the right track as I go forward with this blog. After all, who am I trying to impress? I just want an semi-interesting, somewhat witty account of what we are doing and experiencing on this trip. Am I achieving that? I think so but you can judge for yourself.
Arrived in Cairns (pronounced cans) this afternoon. We walked several blocks from the wharf and found a liquor store to purchase a couple of bottles of prosecco to bring with us to dinner at the home of a couple we met two years ago on our cruise around South America. This is what happened. We were seated at a table one night in the dining room with another couple and after talking for a few minutes, realized that we had been together on the cruise in South America and that we had even socialized together along with another couple. That other couple live in Cairns and are in touch with Margaret who is
A Beautiful Setting
Great house and location cruising with us. She emailed Debbie and told her we were on the ship etc. etc. I then sent Debbie a picture that I had taken of her in Rio. She emailed back to thank me and invited us to dinner at her house along with Margaret and Brian.
Debbie picked us all up at the pier and away we went to her beautiful home.
They have a menagerie of pets and kids living with them and were just wonderful to be with again.
After a lovely meal and dessert, they returned us to the ship and we bade them farewell until we meet again…
