Meet Bagel - young male koala
hello

We arrived in Brisbane at 6.30 on Friday after a 7 hour flight from Singapore. The flight went pretty smooth, i watched the original Taking of Pelham 123 (as recommended by JOB) and the Tyson documentry. Both were pretty good. I didnt get any sleep on the Plane, Anne got a wee bit but we were both totally knackered.

Brisbane Airport baggage claims turned out to be an absolute nightmare, we stood at a conveyor belt that went round and round for 1 hour, with no sign of any of the Singapore flight bags. There must have been about 12 different belts, but 6 flights had arrived at the same time and they were all using the same belt. When we finally got our bags (that we had given up hope of ever getting) we joined the anything to declare queue that was a mile long. So all and all it took us nearly 2 hours to get out of the airport!!

We got the train into Brisbane Centre, we couldn check into our hotel as it was too early so we went for a wander. Brisbane is beautiful and dead hot. We went for a coffee then walked to the water front and soaked up some sights.

I have never felt more tired in all my life, we had a bite then went to bed at 6 bells and slept right through till 07.30 in the morning the next day. We got up and jumped on a bus to a Koala Bear Sanctuary.

It was absolutely brilliant, we got to pet Koala bears, Kangaroos, Goats, Sheep Dogs, Snakes, hens and lambs. I think it was the best thing we have done so far, the animals were also kept in good conditions and well cared for. All in they had around 130 koala bears - check out the pictures of us holding Bagel - how cute is he!

Today we took it a bit easy, went out for a walk, did a bit of shopping and are planning to go out for a bite and go to see the new Bruce Willis movie. Tomorrow we are hiring a car, heading to Steve Irwins Zoo on the way to Fraser Island.

Talk soon

Lots of Love Anne and Russ

Hi Auntie Margo, hope you had a great holiday and Uncle Charlie had a great birthday. I'm on the wrong continent to be holding baby tigers so koalas were the next best thing. Lovin the animals, Russ and I can't get enough of zoos and sanctuaries! Going on a whale watching trip when we get to NZ as well. Hope all is well back home xxx
