A great night sleep, I did have a run in with a bug! I sprayed it, then thought, I’ll collect it in the morning! I woke up to the alarm at 8:30. Well relaxed, and ready for the day. I pottered for a while, made a cup of tea, then sat on my porch. I sighted a few dragon beard lizards passing by! I went to collect my breakfast from reception. I had oats cereal, with apple, yoghurt and apple, then a cereal bar. Not what I would usually eat, but I do tend to just eat, and enjoy what I am presented with. It’s a self catering place, so our guide, Johanna, brought our breakfast in! At about 9:30 Angelika came round for a cup of tea and a chat. We spent about an hour ... read more

Friday 4 December A good nights sleep again. We awoke at 7.30 am and did all the usual packing and getting ready. I forgot to mention yesterday, when we were at Emu Park we saw a statue called The Singing Ship. It is partially made up of hollow tubes, which the wind blows through and yes it does make a noise, not sure you would call it singing, but whatever. It was created to commemorate the bicentenary of Captain Cook who passed this way in May 1770. We were on the road and on our way to Bargara, our destination for today at 9.15 am. We drove towards and through Rockhampton a large town along the A1 Bruce highway. Unfortunately, whilst on the main highway a lorry on the other carraige threw up a stone and ... read more

So mac... read more

Spent the morning out on the veranda, reading our books and chatting to Matt’s uncle – Andy, who popped round for a catch up. It was lovely for Matt and Andy to catch up as they don’t get to see each other that often, and after several hours of chatting Andy headed off and we headed out for the day. Today’s outing was a little different however – I was driving! Matt and Rowena have kindly allowed me to drive their car and placed me on the insurance, so now was the time to get in and have a spin of their 1.8L Audi. It is a beautiful car to drive, so smooth and handles well, even on the country roads here and up the muddy bank which acts as the drive way to and from ... read more

Well, it took only 5 hours to get here, no fights no traffic worries, then another 1/2 hour to set up tent and off to the golf club for dinner. Food was great, of course Kazza had the steak which was pretty good. The total meal cost was only $40 for four, and the wine bill .....$90... read more

Tuesday 23 November – it looked as though it could be a reasonable day today. We had really enjoyed our stay in Kinka Beach in spite of the rain but it was time to go. We had been there eight nights – our original idea was to stay just three! Roger was there to see us off – we hope he lets us know where he and his family decide to settle. He helped with the caravan lights check but the sidelights on neither the car nor the caravan worked. Brake lights and indicators were both fine – we wondered if some damp had got into the connecting lead. Obviously we would need to get it checked but today, as with most days, we didn’t intend driving after dark so carried on our way. It was ... read more

Today, 25th November was a special day for a few reasons - our niece Anna in Tewkesbury had a very special birthday – she was 40 today. We hope you had a very enjoyable birthday Anna especially in the knowledge that “life begins” today for you! Also, happy birthday to our good friend, Gill from Worton in Wiltshire. No doubt she will be celebrating in some exotic location with hubby Keith as they live up to their surname – Holiday! Lastly, this blog is our 50th – it’s amazing we have managed that many already! For the first time we have done two separate blogs relating to just one day and this is why: If you read our last blog you will know that we chose to stay at Bargara near Bundaberg for a specific reason. ... read more

MON REPOS TURTLE ROCKERY We drove up to Mon Repos Turtle Rockery from Brisbane for the weekend to see the Baby turtles hatching and making there way to the ocean. When we arrived at Mon Repos we were unable to see the turtles the first night as the team of people whom look after the nests only take a small amount of people out every evening to see the turtles hatch and this was fully booked. so we went to bed early and then we got up early the following morning to go down to the beach to see if we couls see any signs of the babies from the night before. we did find the remainder of an egg and say the trails that the babie turtles had made to get to the ocean. We ... read more
