Hungover in the morning after a big night we had to get up, pack, eat and check out once again. Millie, Lucy, Andrew, Becky, Phillip and a few others came to the bus stop to see us off. I watched Becky's video of me rapping on stage the night before and it wasn't too bad luckily. The bus arrived in the afternoon and it was one of the toughest goodbyes to date, I was absolutely gutted to be leaving my Fraser Island family! The journey was a long overnight one, around 15 hours so I spent the afternoon/evening on the bus writing blogs on my phone before taking some valium to try and get some sleep.
We arrived at Airlie Beach around 6 or 7am. Our hostel didn't have a transfer for us so we had to walk the 15 minutes into the small town of Airlie Beach. We found our hostel but couldn't check in until 2pm so we dropped our bags into storage and chilled in the lounge at the hostel taking advantage of the wifi with Freeman and Dee. I did a couple of blogs then me and Freeman had a walk around town whilst Dee was
a typical girl and went shopping. I got yet ANOTHER pair of new sunglasses as i'd lost my others on Fraser Island and also some more sun cream, before we stumbled across yet another man made lagoon which was amazing. We went back to the room at 2pm to check in and the woman on reception was ranting and raving after having a really bad and stressful day but a quick chat with me and Freeman and a bit of banter we managed to get her smiling again. We dropped our stuff off in the room and I went out for a haircut while Freeman chilled out in bed. When I got back we put our swimmers on and headed back down to the lagoon with Dee to catch some rays and have a swim. At the lagoon we saw the Sarah & Helen and then the Irish girls again, so we set up camp, chilled in the water and had a little swim. After a couple of hours we went back to the hostel, showered, got ready and went to our hostel bar to take advantage of the $6.50 meal and beer offer! We both had the steak which
was surprisingly good and an absolute bargain in Australia. After searching for a liquor store we finally found one that was open, bought a 4L box of goon and pre drank with the other people in our room. The lads in our room were a good laugh but just before we left Freeman lay down on his bed and said he wasn't going out. Not to be deterred I went out with the others anyway, yet again proving how sociable travelling is. En route to the bar I got a tap on the shoulder, looked up and couldn't believe my eyes... The legendary Manc Tom Brindle was looking at me with a big grin 'Alliiighht m8!', i'd met this guy in Koh Tao, Thailand in December 2012! He was working out there so wasn't out but we agreed to meet another night for a few drinks, such a small world. We headed straight for the club where we met up with Sarah, Helen and the Irish girls and all drank n partied away all night. It was a class night and everyone had fun and then Dee came up to me and asked if we wanted to go to an
after party at someone's gaff so a few of us said yes and headed there. The house was proper in the outback and we jumped in the back of a car which didn't even have seats but we got there safe and they had mixing decks so put the tunes on and carried on drinking and partying, there was no chance of waking up the neighbours out here! After an unbelievable night I crashed in one of the spare rooms once everyone had enough. Something tells me I was going to have a pretty bad hangover the next morning for the start of our Clipper Party Boat Tour around the Whitsunday Islands, a bad decision to go out maybe?
