Made it through ladies night in Cairns, never go there on a Thursday night is my only advice.
Caught the Greyhound to Mission Beach the next day looking forward to some rest and relaxation and booked into a hostel called the Tree house. As the name suggests it was a giant tree house in the middle of the rain forest. Open plan, huge wooden deck and pool area. I couldn't believe how amazing it was, like a spa you see in posh magazines and only $25 per night. Spent the first day relaxing by the pool...........after about 2 hours i was totally bored so booked some White Water Rafting for the next day. Apparently, according to the instructor, i don't just raft, i raft hard. You can make your own minds up from the pictures!
Went to Magnetic island for a few days after that and met up with some friends and we travelled to Whitsundays to join a 3 day sailing tour. For someone who gets seasick on a pond, i was taking a bit of a gamble (mum i bet this is your worst nightmare!) but i stocked up on tablets and was totally fine. We spent
3 days singing Duran Duran's "Her name is Rio" and trying to recreate their video, with mixed results! Drinking beer through a snorkel was also a huge part of the trip.
Colette, if you've lost your husband i think I've found him, or his long lost twin, only with slightly bigger teeth! check out Steve from Washington in picture 36.
