Day 10 - Darwin. / Kakadu Trip

Today was going to be a quiet day. Well someone forgot to tell me that this was not the case. We started off going to church at the local Catholic Cathedral. A very impressive structure with big doors opened at either side of the building allowing the wind to work naturally through the building.

Following this Paul and his two older kids went on a Segway Tour which was going to take a couple of hours. This proved to be a hit with the kids and in particular with my son Paul. He hasn’t stopped talking about the stuff he saw on this tour.

Once we all met up again we headed off to Berry Springs Nature Park. This park has a very popular hot spring. The problem is half of Darwin’s population were also visiting this free activity. Now this was going to be a quick visit prior to us going to the famous Mindil Sunset Markets. Now once we arrived I realised my wife and I had left our bathing gear and towels in the camper. It was 20km from home so we had to improvise. My wife got into the water with her bright red bra and a tight pair of shorts she was wearing under her dress. Now this put my son Paul into a spin. Not very often he sees his mum partially dressed. Tonina thought it was hilarious as did Tracey.

Once we all had a good swim in very deep but warm water and stopped gagging we headed off to the Mindil Markets. Lots of stalls both food and other Nik naks. The sunset was enjoyed by half of Darwin, or it felt like it. I had to be careful not to step on anyone sitting on the sand while I was taking my photos.

Sun is down and now time to go home.
